Kokonaisuutena kyseessä on huikea teos, jonka tulen varmasti lukemaan useampaan kertaan. Ainoa valittamisen aihe liittyy taudin puhkeamiseen/leviämiseen. Death from Above: Attempted in Paris, against the Hive or Hives that are destroying the city. How successful it is never gets shown to the reader. A Form You Are Comfortable With: The Hive Mind chooses to represent itself this way to those who end up enveloped within it, but still aware of their existence as individuals. For Hiromi, it looks like a Message Board. Kengo Hanazawa vie vision zombie-pandemiasta loppuun asti. The characters reflect the sharp juxtaposition of this story, the horror elements neatly situated against the (unintentional?)hilarious, over-the-top insanity of the initial outbreak.

Distant Finale :The last scene in the final chapter shows an older Hideo eking out a solitary existence in the ruins of Tokyo. Titles Nominated for 5th Manga Taisho Awards". Anime News Network. 2012-01-16 . http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-01-16/15-titles-nominated-for-5th-manga-taisho-awards . Retrieved 2012-02-03. Hideo is a freaked out 35 year old that is afraid of just about anything. He often is found with some boy near him that is either a ghost or a character of his, etc. I never could quite figure out. He has a bit of an odd relationship with this girl yet feels threatened by another mangaka she reads. Waif-Fu: Hiromi and Kurusa, both of whom are given unusual strength for their physical stature by infection. The dead eventually do pop up in this book but it is not until much later into the story. The majority of the tension is knowing that these creatures will be introduced eventually, but the author brilliantly shows incredible restraint by making the reader wait for that to happen. Instead we spend some time witnessing our protagonist oblivious to the clues and signs that something bad is bound to happen. When the outbreak happens it is horrifyingly wonderful, I haven't been this wowed since the 28 Days Later films. This book does have lots of gore, so I would not recommend I Am A Hero for the squeamish or those who don't enjoy horror films. One thing that really impressed me is that all of the usual cliche Japanese goofball humor is missing from the book. We don't get the stereotypes that plague the majority of anime and manga fiction in this book. It was almost like the author saw the same boring patterns and opted to do something entirely new. Regardless it is a breath of fresh air and I love it.Cursed with Awesome: If the infection doesn't turn a person into a zombie, he/she is given Super-Strength, Healing Factor, while retaining most of their personality. Chekhov's Gun: With an actual gun. In plain sight. The wait shows the main character is far from an action hero, at best. Ignored Vital News Reports: Hideo does this twice. The first time is accidental. The second? Not so much. Bittersweet Ending: Humanity survives, but only just, and by the end a lot of the main characters are dead. Hideo's entire mission is revealed to have been doomed from the start, and he fails spectacularly at saving Hiromi, with her joining the hivemind and only allowing him to live because she believes that stranding him on his own in the ruins of Tokyo is a Fate Worse than Death. However, Hideo is able to adapt to his new environment and even thrive. In the epilogue, he finds that a ZQC tower has given birth to an ordinary human baby girl. The baby girl grows up to greatly resemble Hiromi, he names her Hiiro, and lives his life content raising her as her father.

We get a glimpse into Hideo’s psychological issues: hallucinations, paranoia, crushing self-doubt, but also some hints at his potential strengths, too. Budding confidence, moments of courageousness. The first type is the Technically Living Zombie phase. These creatures have an increased heart rate that might be fatal to a normal person, are hyper-violent, immune to fear and pain, and possess increased strength. They're also impossible to reason with. When these receive physical damage that would otherwise be fatal to a normal person (like, say, an impacted cranium from from a three-story drop or a gunshot wound to the head), they changed into ... The only possible explanation for this non-ending is that Hanazawa simply got burnt out and just wanted to be done with I am a Hero, completely destroying what once was a great story in the process. A real shame, but probably the Japanese manga industry is partly to blame. Technically Living Zombie: However, the infection gives them the unnatural resilience more often associated with traditional zombies, and increased strength to boot. After death, these zombies will generally become the undead type if they aren't killed in a way that destroys the brain stem ( damaging the upper part of the brain does not appear to be enough, from what happens with the jumper who takes out the Gotemba Outlet Mall survivors. Meaningful Name: The Alternate Character Reading for Hideo is why he keeps saying "I am a hero". Later we have Hiromi.Spit Take: Oda breaks the news of her pregnancy to Hideo, while he is eating noodle. Cue Hideo coughing and spitting (off screen), and a strand of noodle hangs out of his nostril when he's done. reason to read Manga online is the huge amount of material that is available. When you go to a comic store or Final note; some people have complained about the ending, I disagree. The ending is masterful. It's bitter, but also very sweet. Heido truly changed, and all shown in just the latter half of the last chapter. It is satisfying.

Chapter 181: Oda is bitten by a zombified baby. Knowing it is too late to be saved she grabs hold of it, sustaining even more injuries before...Driven to Suicide: The zombie that Hideo and Hiromi find in Aokigahara Forest had attempted suicide before the infection could take hold, but failed. Well-drawn throughout, the zombies are terrifying. Did I mention they sort of talk? Lending a creepy layer to an already frightening situation. Through the Eyes of Madness: We get to see what the world looks like to a few of the Infected, most dramatically Hiromi and Takashi. This provides significant insight into the behavior of the other ZQN. Mummies at the Dinner Table: With Tetsuko. He understands the situation, though - it's out of respect. Takashi also maintains most of his mental faculties after being infected, and his interactions with another infected imply that they still maintain some self-awareness after turning, though he briefly succumbs to their violent behaviour once he realizes Kurusu killed a member of the group he had a crush on. He even goes on to become the leader of the group of survivors he was part of. It's also implied that Kurusu had actually been infected for quite some time before Takashi joined his group, which would explain most of his Psychopathic Manchild personality.
