Lewis has established a sterling visual legacy of Florida's rapidly changing Backwoods and Waterways.

When he meets Dougan’s “Fairy”, he must fulfil his promise to keep her safe and ensure she claims her rightful inheritance, even though it means kidnapping her and persuading her that marriage to him is her only option. It's a Victorian villain romance with a tortured, traumatized MMC who's been in love with the FMC since they were kids. I love his dangerous allure, his sensuality and all that emotional tortured feel his character gives off.If you're anything like me, the best night is one spent with a brawny highlander, a mysterious werewolf, a conflicted vampire, or a hot-headed Irishman. It kind of reminded me of the 90s romances, where bodice rippers from the 70s and 80s started to become "gentler. Anyway, to fit in with my titles, I hereby christen Cat Sebastian’s two London Highwaymen books a series and they are definitely a bingeable one, because I read them one after another across the space of 48 hours. It is always good to read a book where I can truly feel and believe the love that the main characters have for each other. Farah is the gentle soul whose strength and determination will break down the fortress Dorian has built around his heart.

Moll has separated from dodgy but charming Jemy, her "Gentleman" husband, but sees him again in the company of two other men. Bransen utilizes both sides of his heritage in the novel to overcome his crippled state and become the Highwayman. This is such a strange time and I’m finding myself uncertain of many things -including what day today is- but now I’m finally sure of one thing, that I’m going to spend the next few days binge reading this series because. Moving forward 17 years, Farah has been living as Mrs Mackenzie, Dougan’s widow, for the past 10 years, following his death in Newgate prison. From the moment Farah wipes the blood from Dougan's hands they are bound to one another, two outcasts in an orphanage.

This inexpensive paperback is far superior: a great introduction to the ballad and to the power of illustration. This article includes a list of references, related reading, or external links, but its sources remain unclear because it lacks inline citations. The Highwayman (by Alfred Noyes) tells a tragic tale of doomed love in beautifully descriptive and poetic language. However this Poem will forever live on, standing the test of time and capturing the essence of The Highwayman and of an era long gone. You guys had nothing but good things to say about THE HIGHWAYMAN with your talk of tortured heroes and dark romance.

With a beautifully developed cast of secondary characters to only make this story even more compelling, and a chilling thread of danger and suspense woven throughout it, Kerrigan Byrne delivers a breathtaking tale of second chances and of love everlasting. It isn’t hard to figure out the big secret Dorian has been hiding because the clues are clearly signposted. the historical setting gave an appeal it wouldnt otherwise have had it been set in a modern day time. He never went to work but when he was cool and sober … his courage and presence of mind never failed him … his address was genteel, and his behaviour void of all cruelty and insolence". The highwaymen's 'Lives' in this book were taken from 'A General History of the Lives and Adventures of the Most Famous Highwaymen, Murderers, Street-Robbers etc.

He tells her they are getting married, because he was honoring a death bed wish of Dougan to protect and care for Dougan's Fairy. Kerrigan Byrne’s writing style was good and I would most likely look for another book of hers to read but only when I am in the mood.

Unlike some modern day criminals the Highwayman was generally a well dressed, well spoken gentleman who used threats rather than violence.Dougan was all alone in the world, with no love or kindness, until little Farah came along and tended his switch wounded hands. The Highwayman" is the devastating, riveting and carnal romantic novel i have waited for ages to find a opportunity to read.
