Incendiary was one of my favourite fantasy novels of 2020, and Illusionary has definitely stolen the spotlight for 2021. Lady Nuria, who was one of my favorites from book one, reconfirms her badass queen status even though we see her less. Cordova has a real strength for world building and for writing character you can’t help but bond with. In their travels, they will reencounter with old friends, enemies and make new ones, if they are to finish their quest.

This book really builds on the characters and who they are, particularly as they go through turmoil and learn who they can and can't trust. Not only do we see characters such as Leo, Lady Nuria, and Dez again, but we meet new ones that have found their place in my heart. It was a little too clean and neat for me and I felt like part of the fifty pages were just added on to extend the ending rather than providing anything truly interesting for the reader and the story. But the greatest danger is within Ren – the Gray, her fortress of stolen memories, has begun to crumble, threatening her grip on reality. If Incendiary was a slow burn then Illusionary strapped a rocket on it’s back and zoomed off, because the pacing of this book was significantly faster than book one. In all honesty I’ve not been loving YA recently so it’s a huge compliment from me to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed it! Nuria was my favourite character and she’s barely used, as is Sayida and Argi, 3 women that would have totally changed how I felt the book had they been given more instead of the romance that instead took over this book. It had all the hallmarks of a classic YA fantasy adventure novel, with action, magic, daring rescues, romance, betrayal, and twists that had me yelling “NO WAY” into the pages.

She’ll have to control her magics-and her mind-to unlock her power and protect the Moria people once and for all. We get character development, friendship, redemption, a beautiful romance that left me aching for more. A dark, twisted history lies behind the elusive weapon, and the fate of the kingdom is held in the balance. I’m so happy that the author found a way to have Leo be an integral part of the plot in this book as well because I love him. It also pushes this idea that we are never too old to adapt, to change the way we think or what we support.

I’m sorry but it feels underdeveloped, by the end of the book you’ve got Ren and Castian together, but she’s slept with his brother Dez too.

I felt it really explored some background story of the place, the events of the past that led to the present day of the story and left me feeling satisfied as a reader that I had all the answers, without being overly complicated. Titanas Magic Productions is please to release this collection of five appearance illusions for the stage.Still, the greatest danger is within Renata - the Gray, her fortress of stolen memories, has begun to crumble, threatening her grip on reality. In book one Ren is in love with Dez to the point of willingly putting her life in danger getting herself caught to avenge him. But it’s totally fine because as much as Ren loves Dez, her life is all about Dez, she grew up being protected and loved by Dez, it’s because she knew Castian as a child, A CHILD, she realises she has always loved him and stops loving Dez like it’s been switched off, just as her repulsion and hate for Castian switches off.
