Like with Daria and Stella, she is one of Bella's new roommates. She gets along fast with her when Sheryl spills the tea on her new runway group. Sheryl later offered for Bella to join her and Gabriella's Radiant Week team which Bella accepted, together they won and got the opportunity to spend some time at Pacific Coast High. Rainbow Junior High is a line of dolls featuring Series 1 ( Ruby Anderson, Poppy Rowan, Sunny Madison, Jade Hunter, Skyler Bradshaw and Violet Willow), They are a different type of doll from the ones released thus far, as similar to LOL Surprise Tweens, this line features characters when they were younger in age and reveals how they found their passion to join Rainbow High. Sunny makes a minor at the end of the episode congratulating Ruby for getting the job, and she enjoys croissants with the girls at The Rainbow Union.

Anderson is a surname meaning 'son of Andrew', though it was presumably given to Ruby as a reference to the creator of Rainbow High, Michael Anderson.

As a student of Rainbow High, Sunny is an extremely talented and creative animator and artist. Befitting her interest, the characters she creates are usually adorable and highly stylized.
