Description

The double IPA (8.6% ABV) offers juicy citrus and stonefruit aromas from the classic pairing of Citra and Galaxy hops, over a base brew bolstered by extra oats and wheat for a richer, more satisfying body. To keep you thirsty lot hydrated, we brew Love & Hate about 8 times a month, producing around 400 hL. And it's not just in the UK - we regularly export it across Europe, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Russia, South America and Japan!

To brew Love & Hate we use our base malt, which is an extra pale ale malt, this is the malt we use for all our products. We also add a combination of speciality malts to provide a smooth silky texture. Love & Hate uses two extremely popular hops Citra & Galaxy hops. Citra Cryo is used in the whirlpool at 75c to impart a smooth hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped during fermentation with Galaxy and Citra.

Traditionalists love beer that's crystal clear, with restrained hops, and a delicate flavour. They're going to hate this... Love & Hate is our juicily crushable, unapologetically murky, New England pale ale. An authentic Vermont yeast strain and a big dose of oats work together with our triple dry-hopping process to create beautiful aromas and a silky mouthfeel. Unconventional. Uncompromising. We love it.

Love & Hate was first brewed 3 years ago and much of the recipe remains unchanged. We have only made process changes to production to improve yield and efficiency. It is still brewed with mountains of hops, Vermont yeast and a big dose of oats, Love & Hate is just as juicily crushable and unapologetically murky as ever. Love & Hate was one of the trail blazers for uncompromising craft beer on supermarket shelves. We're so of how far it has come.In answer to my earlier question this ground-breaking NEIPA certainly has stood the test of time and is still extremely palatable. Whilst there may be several other beers that have surpassed this that are readily available one cannot forget the impact that Vocation had when they released Love & Hate. Versions is all about re-imaging elements of a particular brew. The new releases comprise a double IPA, a sour IPA, and a triple-dry-hopped IPA. Inspired, he quit his job, sold his house and co-founded his first brewery in 2008. The awards soon rolled in, and the brewery was a storming success. After five years, he felt he had taken the business as far as he could. He sold his stake in the brewery, and started thinking about new projects. But he had a problem: he desperately missed brewing. It took selling his first brewery for him to realise that brewing was never just a job, it was his vocation. To celebrate its fifith anniversary, Vocation Brewery has come up with new variations of its best-selling Love & Hate NEIPA as part of its Versions series. In all honesty I can see why this is one of the only beers from the supermarket craft beer explosion that is still available today as it is still a quality brew. Hats off to Vocation for their consistency with Love & Hate as it could have been easy for them to think that as the cost of producing beers has increased, they could cut a few corners knowing the legion of fans for this beer, but no, they are still brewing this to be as good as ever.

True to the style of NE style beers we get our hazy-ness comes from the large amount of protein from the grist - achieved with a big dose of oats and wheat. It turns out you loved it! In fact, to date we’ve sold around a million cans. Not bad for a beer that we thought might be a one-off special.
