I also have an older version of the fragrance I got several years ago, and after comparing it to the new one, I prefer the new one. They do smell a bit different, especially in the drydown. The new one carries its sweet-smelling flowers to the very end, while the old one turns into heavier mealy amber. No wonder that with so many amber-woody-musk overdoses in fragrances, my perception of amber has changed. I choose flowers. The yellow-white medley of flowers seems softer and purer in the new version, as if washed by rain. I also like the refreshing, slightly bitter connection of green notes, like hyacinth leaves, with honey somewhere in the flowers, and the fragrance is not as condensed.

And finally, the voluptuous bottle is the embodiment of femininity, with a faceted cap that sweeps like the wing of a swan. Was my signature in the 90s. I have a vintage bottle, and plan to buy a new one (instead of hunting down another vintage) soon. I wore it recently and was complimented hours later, several times. It’s a showstopper, still to this day. Enchantment in a bottle. I think we forget that good smells are good smells, no matter the era. Flowers and fruit smell good, and always will. Doesn’t matter what era it is, flowers and fruit will always smell great. Other combinations … like certain spices, incense, etc, are fashionable for a time, while they are novel to our noses, and then no more… I will always love Amarige to pieces. Don't you have a feeling that we live in a truly weird mythical time? Like ancient Greece or some stranger time, lost and abandoned and yet fastened to some general web of events, and nothing can stop what is coming? Whatever it is, please be good. ...So following this feeling and within the sweet domain of ours, I'd like to offer an epic perfume, one of the titans of at least my perfume world, and a good repellent of bad thoughts. One thought: I don't mind Turin dissing my favorites. He said rotten things (if I recall correctly) about the almost equally wonderful P. Sebastian Design. (Another polarizing floral onslaught, this one more wearable for me...) But it IS disturbing when such a respected reviewer rips into indie and niche efforts of the hardly-yet-established. These artisan/perfumers have indeed created art and deserve more than a comic, destructive review. Much like a sizzling critique in the newspaper of an off Broadway production, kills interest in attending what could actually be quite wonderful.... Just my thoughts. <3 The name of the perfume ‘Amarige’ is an anagram of the French word ‘Mariage.’ That is why this fragrance is as intensive as a strong feeling, and full of merriment, unforgettable like a very special moment in a happy marriage.OK, and for those interested in testing Amarige but unable to get a sample before commiting? Al Rehab Susan is so close it's nearly identical. (Even gives the same headache, hehe.) The Amarige woman is graceful, playful and charming, a real French woman in love. She radiates joy and is always ready to give a spontaneous happy smile. Her fragrance is a cheerful, tender and sensual floral bouquet. I had a glorious mini of Amarige and gifted it away. Why? It is the only scent I've ever had give me a headache! However, at a short distance I can truly appreciate the glory, the joy, the fun of this one. It is DELIGHTFUL. For those who find it too much of a good thing like myself, I think one tiny spray on the ankles is best. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

For light intensity: spray in a cloud around your head and shoulders, let the fragrance fall gently around you. Givenchy Amarige Eau de Toilette scent is a symbol of femininity, happiness, a zest for life and a generous heart are synonymous with this fragrance. This is a sublimely soft femeinine fragrance bursting with radiant joy. An Eau de Toilette that reveals the pleasures of life and the simplicity of joyful moments with its sweet notes evocating the shores of the Mediterranean. This will likely be my last bottle of Amarige. Unless I win the lottery and can always shell out asking prices for all the vintages I desire. After reading my thunderous opening, my kid said, mom, whatever you're offering has to be the answer to all life's questions)
