Do you have a genius in the family that loves to play logic games and solve puzzles? Why not put them to the test with a tabletop game that can be played by a single player, racing against an opponent as a two player game or even play with a group of other players over the internet, a game that puts logic and problem solving skills to the test. The Happy Puzzle Company have a range of worldwide award-winning games that allow players to do just this and the first game in the series is The Genius Square.

If you like a challenge to get those brain cells firing and want a game that can be played solo or together, then I can highly recommend The Genius Square from The Happy Puzzle Company. The Genius Square is a very Happy Puzzle indeed (and there is even an XL version of the game if you like to play your games on a bigger scale). When you're shopping educational toys for your child, the first thing to consider is the age of the toy. Educational toys should be age appropriate, otherwise they will not be helpful in developing skills or learning concepts. On paper, over 62,000 games sounds like a lot. In practice I would say there are actually more than that. Unless you are gifted with a photographic memory, I very much doubt you will remember if you have played a variation of the game before. Let alone remember the solution you came up with. So you could argue this game has unlimited replayability. Certainly each game will present you with a fresh challenge.

Solo or Groups - Do you have overly competitive friends or family? Practice on your own, as genius square game can be played as a single-player, preparing you to win!

Genius Square Review | Zatu Games UK

What I like about the Genius Square is that it’s really easy to take with you anywhere and it’s such a fun and competitive game. When we were on vacation we would bring it to dinner every night and play while we waited or just bring it around the hotel to play because you can really bring it anywhere! We even played it in the airport while waiting for our flight! What would improve the game? This game is good for people who like a challenge and have a competitive spirit! It’s got many benefits from playing and is also just really fun. It’s also a great game if you’re on the go because it’s such a small box that it’s really easy to transport Are there any learning or benefits to the game?As a fan of cooperative games over competitive, I bend the rules a little when I play. Rather than playing against each other, we play against the game with a round not ending until all players have solved the current puzzle. While we are limited to just three players, there is really no limit to how many players can actually take part as long as you have enough copies of the game. Two copies will allow four players to take part and, unless you are hosting a massive Genius Square games night, that should be suitable for most households. Final Thoughts I love this game so much, but there is one thing I would definitely improve with it. The box only comes ready to play for two people, so they should add more sets so that you can play with more than just one or two people. We even bought another whole Genius Square game just so that we could play with three or four people instead of just one or two.

The Genius Square | Waterstones

The board itself is a 6x6 grid; the numbers along the top and letters on the left hand side corresponding to the combinations of letters and numbers on the dice. To start each game you roll all seven dice and using those results, place the seven wooden pegs onto the board. For example, if you rolled A1, A2, B4, C6, E1 and F1, then you would place them on those squares. It’s very important if playing with someone else to make sure your grids match each other, so take a second or two to do so. Once that’s done, you are ready to play. Gameplay This puzzle game encourages sequencing, spatial awareness, speed of thought, strategic planning and visual perception. In that regard it contributes toward STEM learning without the player’s really knowing it. That’s always a bonus! For example, if you are buying a toy for a toddler that is too advanced, they may get bored and turn to other activities while they wait for the toy to be played with. Thus, early learning toys are appropriate for toddlers, instead of too complex toys.

The next thing to consider when choosing toys for children is what do we want them to learn? Do we want them to learn about animals? About colors? About counting? These are all important topics that you may want your child exposed to from an early age so that they can begin learning about these things before school starts and continue learning throughout the year. Educational toys play a big role in this, as they keep on introducing and nurturing children with educational topics, their surroundings, life skills and many more.
