Thoughts: Rachel Harrison is one of my favorite authors to read near Halloween. Her writing is hilarious and relatable and the dark comedy is perfect for the subjects she chooses. Harrison is the master of pairing a horrific plot with fun and witty writing. She layers the deeper subjects of vulnerability and trauma and rage within the story in a way that is stunning to read. I felt myself having a range of emotions while reading a book that should have been a simple scary story. Rory survives, miraculously, but life begins to look and feel different. She's unnaturally strong, with an aversion to silver--and suddenly the moon has her in its thrall. She's changing into someone else--something else, maybe even a monster. But does that mean she's putting those close to her in danger? Or is embracing the wildness inside of her the key to acceptance? Then there is Rory and her mother who share a more messy and turbulent relationship. There’s a lot of darkness shared between the two, a lot of hurt that has never been openly and more importantly truthfully discussed. Through Rory Harrison explores trauma in a very truthful manner. Society will tell you that you’re either defined by trauma and it makes you the person you are today, a survivor, or you’re left broken by it and that’s somehow your fault. What of other people’s responsibility? What about those who should have kept you safe because you were too young? These are the issues Rory has had to deal with alone for many years. As much as this is a book about monsters, the literal and metaphorical kind, it’s also one about forgiveness and moving on—not necessarily just forgiving others but forgiving yourself too. I love the way Harrison juxtaposes Rory’s transformation into a werewolf and the pain her body experiences with the experience of childbirth and even the changes experienced with menopause. Women are forever going through challenges and each one causes us to evolve and that’s not easy by far but at the end of it we can learn to be comfortable with who we are, to embrace our inner strength. Speaking of the main plot, there really is no plot here. I thought for sure the main focus of the story would be Rory researching werewolfism and trying to find the one who bit her to cure herself. No, that would have taken focus away from the romance and family drama. Instead, the climax of the plot seems to culminate in two events: Rory's sister having the baby and Rory revealing her were-self to Ian. So there is this whole small-town thing going on with past friendships and hook-ups that rush at Rory as soon as she starts hanging out with people around town.

This is so far my favorite work of the author! This is amazing Halloween reading choice including scary paranormal theme blended in sarcastic, entertaining women’s fiction- romance- mystery theme! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Redirect your puppy’s nipping by giving them a toy. If they nip or bite at you as you're playing, have a toy on hand to give to them. This will let your puppy know that they can chew on the toy, but not on you. Be sure to rotate the toys that you give them to keep them entertained and stimulated. No, I did not read all of that cutesy bullshit only for the big moment to be Rory seeking acceptance from A MAN, did I????? Barf, again! And then this villain character shows up kinda late in the story, and the twist with them was telegraphed so obnoxiously, it wasn't hard to see it from a mile away. Now, on top of all that baggage, Rory has to figure out how to keep herself from killing everyone in sight whenever there's a full moon. And that's the least of her worries. As a werewolf, can she return to her old life in Manhattan? Will the people she loves still trust her if they find out she's a part-time monster?

This darkly comedic love story is a brilliantly layered portrait of trauma, rage, and vulnerability. Rating 8: An enjoyable werewolf story that takes on feminine rage, “Such Sharp Teeth” is another great horror novel from Rachel Harrison! If just a small piece of enamel chipped off your tooth, fixing it may be as simple as smoothing the sharp edge.

If a large piece of your tooth breaks off, or if there’s a lot of decay, you may need a crown. Most dentists do this type of restoration in two visits. She was so Cool and everyone had to know it. Everyone had to constantly say it. She's COOL, y'all. She's funny and witty and sexy and everyone loves her and SHE'S SOOOO COOL. She goes to cool parties in NYC and has one night stands and never connects to any man and she always has fun times and she always has quirky zingers for every conversation. Even her sister Scarlett was a Cool Girl, just with a Kat Von D coat of paint. Their best friend was the bestest, most intense homemaker ever. The romantic lead Ian was a nerdy music kid turned hot dude - and did I mention he's tall? He's soooo big and tall. He's so tall that when he's sitting down on a chair, Rory barely reaches his face. SO BIG AND TALL!! I love this paranormal self growth- body shape positivity approach ( learning to love yourself even though you have silver blood, grey fur, sharp teeth and nails, red eyes) - romance story! When you’re young, you’re oblivious to what is rare because you don’t have enough experience to identify it. Now, strange things are happening. Rory is starting to become much stronger than she was before. Her blood looks silver and she is constantly craving meat. She is changing into something new, a monster with uncontrollable urges. In conflict with her unnerving situation, Rory is trying to prepare her home for a baby and start a new relationship. Praise for SUCH SHARP TEETH “ Such Sharp Teeth is wonderfully witty and wild. It’s also heady and daring in how the story explores friend and family dynamics, the anger women aren’t allowed to express within our culture, and the wounds that transform us against our will. The next full moon I see, I’ll be rooting for Rory.” Dental sealants prevent cavities. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. https://www.cdc.gov/vitalsigns/dental-sealants/. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers and protects your tooth. It’ll look just like your natural teeth. First, your dentist may file or grind the sharp edge before covering the remaining tooth with a crown. 4. Dental VeneersRory’s story could have been really heavy to read through. There is a lot of trauma and growth and that can weigh down a story and a reader. Thankfully Harrison uses humor to help combat that dangerous pitfall. There are a lot of rapid-fire quips between the different characters that keep the mood elevated throughout the story. When Rory and Scarlett get to bounce off each other it’s hilarious. Rory and Ian have a similar interaction style most of the time. Such Sharp Teeth is a great monster read Such Sharp Teeth was such a delightful surprise. I love Rachel Harrison's brand of 'Horror with Heart' and this one is the perfect example of that style. Rachel Harrison does a supremely excellent job rolling a classic werewolf story into a hometown drama-complete with a complicated romance, family secrets, and just being a woman in this modern world. I really enjoyed how each of the characters develop in this story, and how those changes cause the characters to interact with each other. It's challenging to discuss this without giving anything away! But the ways Harrison winds in mental health issues is clever, and I always like stories that discuss these issues with nuance. Once again Harrison’s use of dialogue is razor sharp and flows like natural conversation. Though the story is told through a first person narration by Rory we are shown the two sisters’ close bond immediately. Rory and Scarlett share quips with one another, they tease and insult each other in the way sisters do, they support each other with looks and gestures knowing the other person so deeply that not everything needs to be said with words. Though the sisters are twins and share many traits, one of which is never being completely honest with their feelings on serious matters, they both share differences too. Rory doesn’t like to commit or lay down roots, or get too attached, whereas Scarlett wants nothing more. Therefore seeing Rory return to her home where a string of attachments and trauma unfolded we know just how deeply she must love Scarlett to return. I haven’t read many books which centre on sibling relationships, so I loved experiencing this unconditional love the sisters had, the kind that’s expressed with their deeds rather than anything materialistic.
