An Zeichnungen erläuterte Schritt-für-Schritt-Schminkanleitungen mit Produkt- und Utensilienauflistung in Anlehnung an ein Starfoto. TB: Yes. Linda Wells says it. He was ahead of it. What's next? People always say he would have been amazing on social media now. But I tend to think that he would be onto whatever's next. Something we haven't seen.

He could sense any fear. I know Linda Evangelista, he made her feel like "You got this!" You know, "I got you, you got this." Because it's scary to be that vulnerable. You're in someone else's clothes and people expect so much. He didn't expect anything of anyone. He just let them be. I've kept it through several moves, including a period of my life where all my belongings were split between the three friend's houses I was couchsurfing on. I've never completed one of the looks featured in the book. That's not what makes the book so valuable to me. On our way walking over to have coffee in the cafe at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, Tiffany tells me how fascinated she is by the Anna Delvey aka Anna Sorokin story and mentions that Shonda Rhimes had just acquired the rights to the New York magazine article about her. Kevyn does a really great job of encouraging the reader to experiment with makeup, and not just with colors, but also with the way you apply it, location, tools, and more. He does a GREAT job of summarizing styles throughout the decades and gives you step-by-step instructions with color and makeup suggestions for you to replicate the looks. I especially loved the history of the "Eyebrow" (30s thin brows)and "lip" (50s full lip). I really loved the "film noir" and "hollywood bombshell" looks. Today, the Makeup Museum unveils a vast, never-before-seen digital archive of the journals that Aucoin, widely considered the world’s first celebrity makeup artist, kept between 1983 to 1994. They document his Hollywood rolodex (Hello, Tina and Liza!), meetings with all-star collaborators and supermodel confidantes (Cindy, Linda, and Paulina...to name a few), and candid Polaroids snapped on iconic photoshoot sets, from Vogue editorials with Irving Penn to a Chanel campaign with Claudia Schiffer. Altogether, Aucoin’s personal notebooks offer a raw and authentic look into his day to day, the hustle and glamour of it.

Customer Reviews

I will never part with this book, even if it goes unread. I will espouse its qualities to strangers, even when inappropriate. I will insist other people read it so they can tell me what it says and how we could all learn from it.Aucoin was an interview subject (along with dancer Bill T. Jones and explorer Ann Bancroft) in Oliver Button is a Star!, a video reinterpretation of Tomie dePaola's children's book "Oliver Button Is a Sissy." According to Kevin, he argues that makeup can make anyone any race they want, saying he can be Asian one moment and Spanish the next. I think that the climate of today's cancel culture would definitely not let him get away with saying that so this book definitely shows it is from another era. Isabella Rossellini sings Aucoin's praises and we can see for ourselves that Liza Minnelli never looked as good as she does after he worked his magic. Linda Wells explains how, to launch his career, he installed himself in the lobby at Vogue and ultimately "changed the face of makeup." Kevyn Aucoin: Beauty & The Beast In Me, a documentary directed by Lori Kaye, features Aucoin's own personal videos taken throughout his life. It premiered as the documentary centerpiece at Outfest in July 2017 and had its TV debut on Logo TV on September 14, 2017. The film was also featured in the 125th anniversary (September 2017) issue of Vogue Magazine. [20]
