Description

The firmware of the Wurkkos FC11 supports both stepless dimming and normal stepped modes. Here's all the supported actions.

Alright, I will keep this short becuase this light is decently inexpensive and overall it is fine — not great, not bad — fine. Here’s the highlights:Ok, so the TS12 is a 21700 light, which is generally the type of light that comes out comically large, and almost too big to carry anywhere. However this 21700 isn’t bad at all, if you buy the battery from Wurkkos you should be getting a 5000mAh 21700 battery — tons of runtime in this. Cell installation is normal – positive end toward the head. You can remove the tailcap or the head to install the cell. For reference, here’s a baseline shot, with all the room lights off and almost nothing hitting the sensor. Also, here’s the light with the worst PWM I could find. I’m adding multiple timescales, so it’ll be easier to compare to the test light. Unfortunately, the PWM on this light is so bad that it doesn’t even work with my normal scale, which is 50 microseconds (50us). 10ms. 5ms. 2ms. 1ms. 0.5ms. 0.2ms. In a display faster than 0.2ms or so, the on/off cycle is more than one screen, so it’d just (very incorrectly) look like a flat line. I wrote more about this Ultrafire WF-602C flashlight and explained a little about PWM too. User Interface and Operation The light is setup to run these in a narrow spot style clear optic. If you are familiar with the SST-20 at 4000k then you know what you get here, if not it’s an under appreciated LED with a very high CRI. I won’t say it is my favorite, but it’s a very good LED and is increasingly found in the lower cost lights which is a win for everyone. Use and Carry

One remark regarding your runtimes and the following Modes and Currents: Wurkkos used a 3500mAh battery for their ANSI/NEMA FL1 Chart (see manual “Notes”) instead the delivered 3000 mAh.

It is a little weaker on turbo. I was quite amazed at how much the Sofirn managed to light up the whole forest on my nighttime stroll. But the Wurkkos is not that bad. And that white...

The Wurkkos FC11 has 2 UI options for people to choose, a stepped (Default) or a ramping. To change UI while off, hold the button for 3 seconds and the light will flash twice to let you know it’s switched.Neither of those are the winning features of this light for me. There are two that I think are left unspoken which are the sleeper hits on this light: There's PWM on all levels aside from maximum, but it's very fast and only detectable with instruments. The flashlight has a voltage indicator built in to the main switch. It will be green if your battery is at or over a 30% charge, red if you are under 30 % and the red will start to flash if a battery change/charge is required.

Size wise there are a lot of similar lights to the FC11. Length and diameter wise the Convoy S2+ is basically identical but my S2+ is the UV model so not a great comparison for beam shots. My Thrunite TC15 is about 7mm longer and about 1.5mm larger in diameter. So now that I have entered the rabbit hole, my question is this - is there a light with similar form-factor (single 18650) that combines the advantages of the two that I listed above? That is: warm pleasant beam (around 4000K or lower), magnet, Andúril, dim but always-on button LED, sub-lumen moonlight (and maybe slower ramping on the low end of the spectrum), at least as much turbo as the Wurkkos... My first go with Wurrkos in the FC11 went well — it was a good enough light that I felt I couldn’t just toss it aside in an emergency bag as I had intended to do. Because of this, I’ve been keeping my eye on what Wurkkos is doing: they make budget lights, but they are well made and use nice LEDs in many of them. The TS21 might be the epitome of all of this: it is a fantastic, even before you consider the low price. The Wurkkos FC11 is using the Samsung LH351D LED, in 5000k and is also considered high CRI at 90. This is a great LED to use, and one of the light communities favorites right now because of it’s high CRI and neutral tint. It’s also my first time getting a hold of this LED and I am a fan. Mine seems to be pretty neutral with just the slightest tint of green but I have heard of others getting a more green tinted LED. That’s how the bin lottery works unfortunately. The light uses an orange peel reflector behind a non AR glass. The beam profile here is does have a bit of a hot center, but fades nicely into spill. No undesirable rings or artifacts in the beam itself. Good for general use.
