Falling on the tenth anniversary of Revenge of the Fallen, the 2019 product saw a return of the film's starring combiners, Jetwing Optimus Prime and a hugely ambitious Devastator, which necessitated a release over two years. saw the release of Leadfoot at Target, the enormous Devastator box set at multiple retailers, and the beginnings of the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line in celebration of everybody's favourite little yellow Autobot. Toys in the latter line are earmarked by the addition of "BB" to their ID numbers. Naturally, a good Transformers character demands a good figure, and a perennial part of my collecting has been trying to find a perfect version of the red speedster, both in terms of screen-accuracy, and general fun. I often find figures that are close, but have one or two big flaws. Undocumented, and possibly unintended, the magazine of the time gun can come off, somewhat making it resemble the other blaster Hot Rod occasionally used in the film. Also, for weapons storage options in robot mode, the time gun can be holstered on his hips by plugging it into the mushroom peg hole on either thigh using the same connecting peg on the gun that stores it in vehicle mode.

Dark of the Moon Rodimus was developed independently of Hot Rod, but shares the same article for simplicity and because they are both based off Generation 1 Hot Rod. There’s the second Masterpiece figure, MP-28, which was anything but, with its warped robot more proportions and car mode that wouldn’t roll.I was wary about this part, going in, strictly because, if nothing else, the Legends Deluxe Hot Rod had already nailed a fun transformation. On top of that,this figure also set out to imitate a step seen during portions of the 1986 film, where Hot Rod’s transformation was shown to involve their torso spinning around. Despite not being true Voyager sized, this is Hastak's best ever release of a "Deluxe" scaled figure. If you are a fan of the character, this figure is a must buy. If you are a fan of good figures in general, this figure is a must buy. We do not have the MP toy for comparison, but others have already stated this figure is better than the MP toy. Both the Walmart-exclusive and the Japanese release's box art is strange in that it features a CG render of Hot Rod and Bumblebee standing side-by-side. However, Bumblebee is at the forefront and is far more prominent. Unlike most modern instruction pamphlets, Hot Rod's instructions are printed in full color on the Hasbro version. The instructions on the TakaraTomy version, on the other hand, opt for the usual monochrome. I find it dumb how he complains about plastic quality when the figure is a failed QC sample. Of course he cannot admit it but yeesh

He has articulated shoulders and his hands can grip 3mm posts and other small accessories. Like all Tiny Turbo Changers, he can't roll in vehicle mode. Car mode also looks great. Getting everything tabbed in properly, however, is quite the challenge the 1st time around. The wheels are on split mushroom pegs. I personally don't care about this although some feel quite strongly about it.

As you can see, i already got visible stressmark on the top. I sanded the inner side of the hole with thinly cut sandpaper. These are ones made to test the factory at production level and to test the machine qc not the figure qc. Material would be suspect. In the past final coloring was different from retail versions of figures.
