Delivery timescales are esimates in working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. Sam: Derek describes the heel as pretty firm and stable. Just firm and stable enough for me with a very well executed “gradient” of feel between the top Nitro, lower firmer Profoam Lite and the full outsole. Compared to the Velocity Nitro which includes a heel insert of firmer foam the feel here is more seamless and the insert not as firm. Sam: The midsole is a single density slab of TPEE Nitro supercritical foam. This is unlike the Magnify 1 which had an upper layer of Nitro and a lower layer of firmer EVA foam making the shoe (in combination with its fuller coverage outsole) firmer and stiffer if a bit more stable. Weight is more than OK at about 10.3 oz / 292 g US9 but full outsole coverage, plush collars and built up heel counter may add more weight than required to do the job. Sam

Well balanced seamless gradient of softer springy Nitro through somewhat firmer Profoam Lite through to the outsole: so plenty of cushion and response without being over firm or overly mushy. Sam/Derek Speaking of stiffness: the midsole is also less flexible compared to the Novablast 2. The latter rolls better, although I can see the Magnify Nitro working for people who prefers a last-second lift-off: the firmness of the sole could help add extra propulsion. The source of that springy, pillowy cushioning is Nitro foam, which is infused with nitrogen and layered over a slab of EVA-based Profoam Lite. We’ve seen other brands infuse nitrogen into midsole foam, as well. The Hyperion Elite 2 and Aurora-BL, two noteworthy shoes in Brooks’s Blue Line, feature the nitrogen-infused DNA Flash and DNA Loft v3. Similarly, New Balance’s FuelCell and Reebok’s Floatride Energy use nitrogen-injected TPU foam (thermoplastic polyurethane) and TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) beads, respectively.

Our favourite running shoes

Adidas Ultraboost Light- The 23rd ultraboost features Light Boost to help cut 2 oz from the trainer The women’s version has a different last with a narrowed heel, lower in-step, and sculpted arch shape. The Asics Novablast 2 is not a light running shoe; as a matter of fact, it’s heavier than the original Novablast. However – and interestingly enough – the extra foam actually makes the Novablast 2 a more stable running shoe.

Personal: A ( Like I said earlier this is in the running for trainer of the year from me (3 in the running at the moment), soft yet responsive, durable, and consistent throughout each run at all paces) In the line-up, they work really well shared with other NITRO models given the consistency of the upper design. Using something like the Liberate or Deviate on your speed and tempo days, this becomes a really nice counterpart for recovery. It’s also a much easier to shoe to take for distance and you’ll really enjoy the extra amount of structure up top as you just feel like you’ve got more control.
