Usability Update: The Mudmaster GWG-1000 has proven to be very popular, especially with customers in the United States and Europe who are looking for a very large and rugged outdoor watch. UPDATE (August 24): Casio America announced the release of the Mudmaster GWG1000-1A3 and GWG1000-1A9 and stated the Mudmaster is part of the Master of G line. Phew. Those aren’t the really clever bits though. An in-built sensor is also able to give altitude, barometric and temperature readings. The watch measures barometric pressure, which is converted to relative altitude, measuring from -700 to 10,000m (-2,300 to 32,800ft) within a range of 1 metre or 5 feet. The watch also measures ambient air pressure and presents this on a display to indicate weather patterns (whilst also recording specific pressure in hectopascals or inches of mercury, for all you avid meteorologists out there). The thermometer can measure air temperature from -10°C to 60°C (14°F to 140°F). Lastly, a direction sensor detects magnetic north, displaying both this and your current direction on the watch face, in compass points and degrees. The large buttons on the case makes it easy to operate the watch even if you are wearing gloves. This makes it a perfect companion for those who are frequent travellers to hills and seek adventure. The timepiece features Multiband 6, which automatically adjusts time settings based on reception of Casio's radio towers located in Japan, China, United States, England, and Germany. So you don't need to get into the hustle of setting the time manually.

Smart Access (the system for analogue movements achieves multi-functionality and easy operability simultaneously through a combination of multiple motors and an electronic crown) The watch's dial is illuminated by a LED light and is protected by a sapphire crystal, which as per Casio cannot be scratched. It also ensures high visibility under virtually any conditions imaginable. During my usage, I did not struggle to read the information on dial, however the intensity of the light is quite low. It is not even able to light up half of the dial, which is a bit low-down. Great watch just what I was looking for. Robust atomic time solar power plus many other goodies. Excellent price delivery speed extended warranty. But... The GG-1000 also retails at roughly half the price of its bigger brother, which might make you question whether those extra features you're getting with the GWG-1000 are worth the money in the first place. Best Of Both Worlds – GW-9400 Rangeman? The lower-left button on the left opens the list of the features on the watch's LED strip, which you can access or customize with the help of upper-left button. The list of features includes timer, stopwatch, alarm, atmospheric pressure, temperature, etc. The thermometer can give readings in either Celsius or Fahrenheit.

When using the altimeter there are a few very important basics that you should know about how air and air pressure sensors works. The pressure sensor in a watch does not know whether a pressure change is the result of a weather change or a change in height. Imagine: You have your watch in the altimeter position and you spend the night in a mountain hut at an altitude of 2500 meters. While you are sleeping a low-pressure weather front is approaching. The pressure sensor registers this and the watch translates this as an increase in height. Without having moved a single meter, you wake up at 3000 meters. You will therefore have to keep a close eye on the weather when you are using the watch as an altimeter or as a barometer. The pressure sensor does not know if the pressure changes because of gaining altitude or weather closing in. Or you might not even climb at all according to the watch. This sports watch is perfect for free or scuba diving.the watch is water resistant up to 20 bar according to ISO 22810 This is the simplest function to explain. The temperature mode is selected by pressing the left lower button until the small hand in the subdial is at the Temp position. The temperature sensor measures the outside temperature between -10 and +60 degrees Celsius (or Fahrenheit if selected). But… The most accurate measurement on outside temperature I got, not wearing the watch. And this is logical since your wrist influences the measurement just by wearing the watch. Sunrise and Sunset times are displayed for your chosen location. Ideal for planning outdoor activities. months on rechargeable battery (operation period when stored in total darkness with the power save function on after full charge)Alarm Settings, Altimeter Settings, Auto Altitiude Calibration, Auto Summer Time (DST) Switching, Auto Time Correction, Barometer Settings, Compass Settings, Hand Alignment Correction, Location Indicator, Mission Log, Mode Sort Sequece and Number of Modes Setting, One-Touch Time Correction, Phone Finder, Time & Place Log, Timer Settings, World Time (approx. 300 cities) Powered by any light source, saving time and money as no battery change required- known as TOUGH SOLAR

Multiband 6 (Automatically adjusts time settings based on reception of one of six time calibration signals around the globe: Japan (2), China, United States, England, Germany.) This new MUDMASTER model was created especially for this whose work takes it into areas where piles of rubble, dirt, and debris are present. Auto Light: The watch face will illuminate automatically when you tilt your wrist towards you. Once activated, this feature will automatically deactivate after six hours.A World time function displays the current time in major cities and specific areas around the world The core of a barometer and altimeter is a digital pressure sensor. The pressure sensor does nothing more than register differences in air pressure. If you use the watch in the barometer position, you will see the pressure trend and the air pressure in the screen. If you switch on the altimeter, you only change a calculation setting in the watch. This is due to the physical fact that the higher we get, the lower the air pressure. On average 1 millibar per 8 meter rise. And because it has been internationally agreed that the air pressure at sea level is 1013 millibars and that sea level is 0 meters, you can easily convert air pressure to altitude. One remark I should make: the official unit for pressure is hectoPascals and not millibar (1 millibar = 1 hectoPascal (hPa) and that is why the Mudmaster displays hPa. The catch Barometric pressure tendency information alarm (beep and arrow indicates significant changes in pressure) months on rechargeable battery (operation period with normal use without exposure to light after charge)

daily alarmscan be set to givean acoustic signal. This model has 5 independent alarms for flexible reminders of important appointments Hand shift feature (manual or auto (during altitude, barometric pressure, and temperature measurement)) Do these smart features work? Yep, mostly. Once you calibrate the compass, it’s impressively accurate, and the barometer does a good job of telling you whether pressure is rising or dropping, a good indicator as to whether bad weather is likely to move in. The altimeter is best used as a guide rather than an absolute – it didn’t always correspond with the spot heights of an OS map. And you need to take the watch off and leave it somewhere (preferably shady) for around 20 minutes if you want a reliable temperature reading – otherwise the sensor simply seems to tell you how warm or cool the surface of your skin is. I'm getting ahead of myself here, but you should also consider the GW-9400 Rangeman alongside the Mudmasters if you haven't yet. The Rangeman has got nearly the same features as the more expensive GWG-1000 –Triple Sensor, Tough Solar, Atomic Time Sync & more – but retails at roughly 1/3 the price of the more expensive Mudmaster. For the compass to be accurate, you need to calibrate it often, preferably every time before you go out on for a hike. The calibration process is simple and takes roughly 1 minute. The watch also allows you to set your magnetic declination, which you should do if you want maximum accuracy. The GWG-B1000 is now issued with Bluetooth built in as standard together with Mission Log & Location Indicator modes. Essential when exploring new areas the watch works in unison with the CASIO WATCHES APP to mark points of interest, log important waypoints and help navigate to destinations using the built in Compass & Altimeter. It is also equipped with a triple sensor that displays information on orientation, atmospheric pressure/altitude, and temperature. High visibility is also ensured via large indices with Arabic numerals, a double LED light, and a wind-proof sapphire glass crystal. A Compass function with in-built direction sensor, magnetic declination calibration, and course indicator guides you through your adventures
