Gorgeous, brimming with heart, this is Paige Toon at her best. Beautiful and accomplished... A class act' MILLY JOHNSON To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how to review Someone I Used to Know. The novel is a journey showcasing rape culture, done so with intelligence and maturity, yet written in an age-appropriate manner befitting the narrators. The author left no stone unturned, revealing every facet from just about every angle. The next morning, I was overwhelmed by their concern, questions and suggestions for how they could help me. By being honest with them, I knew, from the relationship we had, that they would be there for me. I loved this from start to finish! I loved the characters, the alternating of chapters between the then and now and most importantly I loved the alpaca’s! Can I persuade the husband to let me have one in the garden! 🤔😂 me thinks not but a girl can dream! Astonishingly acute ... For all the honest rage, Mitchell has written a remarkably hopeful book. Her mission is to remind readers that people can live with dementia as well as suffer from it ... Mitchell is a mine of practical tips ... Making this book is both a testament to the author's intense will to live, and also a living will -- Helen Brown * Daily Telegraph *

The movie was inspired by ’80 and ’90 romantic comedy movies. It also has hints of Brie’s former experiences in terms of dating. But it wasn’t based on a specific event or some fictional work. It’s an entirely original story brought to life by two talented writers and a phenomenal cast. A brave and illuminating journey inside the mind, heart, and life of young-onset Alzheimer's disease -- Lisa Genova, neuroscientist and author of 'Still Alice' These first few chapters had me hooked .. I loved this sample and now I am even more excited for the book. I need to know more about Leah, Theo and George! Paige Toon's writing is just amazing, I know without a doubt I am going to love this book and this preview has only confirmed what I already knew. i LOVED how she focused the book on the family of the victim. two years after ashley's rape, and her family is still suffering on a daily basis. this book explores the trauma and guilt and anger the ENTIRE family faces and how helpless and weak they feel despite doing all they canThe reason I’ve taken you through a Dementia Friends session is because I’ve been diagnosed with young-onset dementia and now need all your help.' The animated group that had walked into the session now appeared sad and thoughtful. A beautiful story of love and second chances, with a remarkable family at its heart, from the Sunday Times bestselling author. But this really is a fabulous book, one I very much enjoyed reading every second of it and I really wish life hadn't got in my way of reading this in one sitting which is what I really really want to do with the book, as its so good and hooked me in so early on. this book shows the life "after" and really highlights on how we can do so much MORE to educate and prevent rape culture At a bar in her hometown, she runs into an ex-boyfriend, Sean. They spend the night drinking together, and kiss in the car when Sean drops her home. Sean refuses Ally's invitation for sex, and she leaves awkwardly. Later that day, Ally visits Sean's house with the intent to apologize for the incident, but learns that he is getting married that weekend and his family is throwing a party. Ally tries to leave, but Sean's mother Jojo insists she attend the wedding to film it.

Somebody I Used to Know: A Memoir - Goodreads

This is a heartbreaking read in many ways, and one that highlights the sheer importance of what people like Leah's parents do. Fostering isn't easy, and neither is being a foster kid, and author Paige Toon does not shy away from showing this to the reader. I also loved that the family home also just happened to be an alpaca farm and some of the mentions of the alpacas. Some of the family traditions, such as the tree, warmed my heart, while other things, like the bit about the wrist warmers most definitely made me giggle. On the eve of the wedding, Cassidy is surprised to see her parents. Ally does not confess to inviting them, leading Cassidy to blame Sean for it and call off the wedding. At their hotel, Ally tries to correct her mistake by getting Sean and Cassidy to understand each other better. Sean realizes he is suppressing Cassidy's career and apologizes. Meanwhile, Ally takes the blame for inviting Cassidy's parents, and Cassidy reneges on cancelling the wedding. Of course I still read it and of course I loved what I read .. something is always better than nothing ... but I was beyond desperate for more! I am not a very patient person at the best of times and the wait was killing me only seconds after finishing it! therapy, communication and getting help for whatever you're going through is a big focus in this book and i freaking loved how normal and casual it was in this story. talking to someone about what you're going through really helps. talking to a counselor, therapist, an adult or a friend is so frequent and positive in this book. Im crying. how normal it's become in our society for men to continuously harass women, touch them without their permission and force themselves on women. there is so much in depth conversations that take place in this book about how men/boys get mad for a girl saying no to them. a girl shouldn't live in a society where she constantly feels unsafe. A girl should be able to dress however she wants without having to worry about men coming at her. men need to control their desires. Control themselvesA beautiful story about love and family and healing broken hearts. It swept me up and wouldn’t let me go – I loved it’ BETH O’LEARY Patty Blount grew up quiet and a bit invisible in Queens, NY, but found her voice in books. Today, she writes smart and strong characters willing to fight for what’s right. She’s the award-winning author of edgy, realistic, gut-wrenching contemporary and young adult romance. Still a bit introverted, she gets lost often, eats way too much chocolate, and tends to develop mad, passionate crushes on fictional characters. Let’s be real; Patty’s not nearly as cool as her characters, but she is a solid supporter of women’s rights and loves delivering school presentations. This book is much more than meets the eye. A pretty cover with so much depth. The stories main focus is around the care system how lives are affected positively and negatively by their upbringings. Someone I Used to Know offers an honest & difficult look at the traumatic effects on life & family after sexual assault

Hello Keith. We're so sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing at the moment, as well as your wife's upsetting experience in hospital. Please rest assured that we are here to provide you with any help or guidance that we can. there's so much more that happens in this book. I literally can't stress how important this is. please read it. I honestly don't even know how to get all my thoughts and feelings down into words to put together a 'proper' review ... there was just so many feelings and so many tears! This book was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time.Beautifully written, with natural, fluid dialogue. I was totally invested in Leah, Theo and (gorgeous!) George’s story and honestly didn’t want it to end. An extraordinary book about a little-understood disease. Awe-inspiring, courageous and insightful. I would recommend it to everyone -- Rosie Boycott, writer and activist Paige also did an amazing job describing some of the realities of the foster care system ... positives and negatives!
