https://resource.razerzone.com/index.php/en/source/audio/mano-war-family/mano-war-7-1/images-111/product-images-112 The Razer ManO'War originally hit the market in 2016 as a premium wireless headset for gamers, complete with LED lighting and virtual 7.1 surround sound. This year, Razer has released a new version of the ManO'War that ditches wireless connectivity bringing the same technology down to a lower price point. IRVINE, Calif. – Razer ™, a world leader in connected devices and software for gamers, today announced the launch of the Razer ManO’War 7.1. This analog-digital gaming headset is an encore to the recent debut of the wireless Razer ManO’War, an editor’s choice among the ranks of TechRadar, Tom’s Guide, VentureBeat and more. Razer’s award-winning design and technology include an array of user interface and systems devices, voice-over IP for gamers and a cloud platform for customizing and enhancing gaming devices.

Razer ManO’War USB is attached to your PC USB port to allow you to have a great wireless experience while gaming. At times the USB is not attached perfectly and you will hear the beeping sound on your Razer ManO’War due to this problem. This EQ has even more bass, but you'll have to sacrifice some treble for it. This is as smooth as it can get before becoming all distorted. You may be able to tinker a bit more with this one on different Razer headsets Powerful 50 mm drivers deliver virtual 7.1 surround sound* to the listener. The Razer Synapse configuration software allows gamers to customize the sound. The Razer ManO’War 7.1 is equipped with sound isolation technology, while in-line volume controls and a retractable MEMS boom mic offer a streamlined gaming audio experience.

Troubleshooting

One other aspect I love: You can configure whether each program runs in 2.0 Stereo or 7.1 virtual surround individually, through Synapse. Want Spotify to output in stereo while playing a game in simulated 7.1? You can do that. Razer's 7.1 surround sound implementation is superior to a number of other solutions I've tried, particularly after you calibrate the headset using the utility in Synapse. When each channel is properly tuned for the best directionality, the ManO'War provides a surprisingly good surround sound experience for a pair of headphones. The battery life of the headset is rated for up to 14 hours, though this can be extended to 20 by disabling the RGB lighting. The obvious flaw with RGB lighting in a headset is that you can’t see it once you put it on, therefore I’d recommend disabling this. In the real world, the headset lasted over two weeks on a single charge, with about one hour of use per day and the RGB lighting enabled. Should I buy the Razer Man O’War? The headset’s microphone retracts smoothly into the left ear cup to mute – a great feature removing any potential for losing the mic or breaking it while in use.

The Man O’War excels in gaming applications. It’s comfortable to wear for long periods of time, has a sound signature that’s well suited to games, and can be easily adjusted with the Synapse software. The Directional sound of the Man O’ War is also excellent and accurate, while the soundstage seems broad and consistent from left to right. The audio feels roomy overall, making this headset ideal for titles with big environments like Battlefield 1 since positional audio does provide an advantage especially in close-quarters combat. Meanwhile, the quality of the Man O’ War’s 7.1 surround emulation, is subjective or questionable in our book. So i was playing around with the EQ, trying to find a good combination, and i think i found the perfect one. I'm using USB 7.1 Krakens. I'm not a fan of the ManO'War's general design. This headset is enormous, particularly the huge circular earcups with copious padding and large plastic surrounds. It's approaching the point of being too cumbersome, and it's certainly much larger than more neatly-designed headsets like the Cloud Revolver.Audio quality is where the Razer ManO'War wired edition shines, and it's nice that you can get the same audio experience as the wireless variant for less. Sure, you won’t notice any of that once it’s on your head. It’s comfortable, and that’s what matters most. However, given the Man O’ War’s price, I expected something a bit more refined. The Audio tab lets you adjust the master volume, as well as turn on and off bass boost, sound normalization, voice clarity, and communication volume. Bass boost can also be adjusted via a slider, and can turned up or down to deliver as much bass as you feel comfortable with, including way too much. At its highest level, the bass pretty much takes over everything, so I kept it to a middling 55, personally. Sound normalization, which smooths out loudness variations, is adjusted by slider when turned on, and the voice clarity feature, which improves communication, is similarly adjustable. In the world of surround sound headsets, you either get a set of cans with multiple drivers built into them or audio devices that simulate the effect virtually. The ManO’War falls into the latter camp, using an extra-large 50mm driver to basically cover your ear and project directional soundwaves. The 7.1 audio also makes a big difference here, and really opens up the soundstage. The Battlefield 1 beta felt punchy, with plenty of bass present in explosions and gunfire – the balance of the headset makes gaming a joy. Note that because of the software requirement, the 7.1 audio is for PC only.
