I would guess that this is the 2nd badge of the HD681. differentiable by the position of "2x32ohm" print* So, dare one speak of sound quality on €19,95 headphones ? At first I was disapointed... a lot ! Couldn't understand why all these guys were bragging about it on the bassguitar forum. I'll try to paint the picture: You might have noticed that Superlux compares them to some oddly named P-brand and A-brands which insinuate: “P-brand HP890”, the Philips SBC HP890 (a classic Philips headphone ); “A-brand AD500” is pointing to the Audio Technica ATH-AD500 and “A-brand K240” suggests the AKG K240 – these 3 headphones belong to major brands and are highly famous models with already many years on the market. The Superlux HD681 has an immediately recognizable aesthetic resemblance with the AKG K240 STUDIO and AKG K240 MKII .

With an EQ, there is a punchier mid-bass response but sub-bass starts to get distorted and do not provide a much deeper sound. The treble is the only area I took found an issue with when it came to sound. The treble definitely had some kind of bright spike to it. It brought up some unusual high frequency artifacts in some songs. Still, with a little EQ work, the piercing brightness faded. The sound leaking out of the Superlux HD681 is high, as expected from any semi-open headphone. There is nothing wrong or badly achieved by the Superlux HD681 that leads to this strong leakage, it is a simple characteristic of every open and semi-open headphone . They’re so unbelievably, proudly plastic. But that gives them a durability that means they might survive being thrown around by high schoolers. I've tried most of the cheap Superlux headphones and in my opinion this is the best sounding one by far. Also the most comfortable ones. I've not been too happy with any of the others, mostly due to harsh sounding highs. In regards to the rest of the spectrum, sorry for not paying more attention to those details. The mids are full in quality and rich; the highs are vibrant and I experienced no fatigue. I just really wanted to point out the bass here because it's amazing... at least for an open headphone. Right off the bat, I’m gonna say it: these headphones look cheap. Everything is made out of plastic and no matter the red accents and the cool-looking adjustable knobs on the headband, this pair of headphones are not what you would want to impress anybody with. Since they are "semi-open" the sound isn't contained, so others can hear what you are listening to and the sound from the surrounding environment creeps in without much resistance. This is another reason I don't see the 681's as ideal for use on a commute or in an office environment, unless you need to be aware of your surroundings. I don't think you have to crank the volume up much to get a really decent level of sound with these either. Recommend for users love enjoy any genre musics indoor with simple way (not DJ style) and replace its ear pads (velour pads or others).

Cons - The Superlux HD330 fault is the cable, yes it is supposed to be long and coiled, but it is extremely tight and not comfortable to expand. The aesthetic similarities are probably intentional here which, combined with the solid reputation of the manufacturer behind them, puts the HD681 in good stead with an expectation of quality. Certainly, first impressions are pretty strong. The Design MacBook Pro, listening music, honestly amazing, and for such price it is simply wow! in this case the cable length is not a problem at all. On the FA08 the headphones cable passes in front of my chest and disturbs my hands. On the Octapad disturbs me to play the snare drum. Besides the cable being too tight in both cases. If not because of this short cable, then these headphones would be unstoppable. The Superlux HD681 highs are superb bright and detailed, a “treble-head” dream come true… bringing some memories of in-ear headphones like the Senfer 4in1. Hats off for Superlux’s little monstrous creation.
