If you're moving from O2 Pay Monthly to O2 Pay As You Go, get in touch with our Pay Monthly customer service team, and we'll do the rest. If you're on O2 Refresh, you can only move to Pay As You Go once your Device Plan is paid. You may need to pay a termination charge if you're not on O2 Refresh but still in your minimum contract term. Can I change tariff? Collapsed link When you're approaching the end of your contract, your network is now obliged to send you an end-of-contract notification. Emergency alerts are a new service that launched in the UK in 2023. In an emergency, mobile phone masts in the surrounding area can broadcast an alert using all 4G and 5G phone networks in the UK. This will warn people if there is a danger to life nearby and provide advice about how to stay safe. If it's available with your device, you can use our Wifi Calling servicemake calls, receive calls and send and receive text messages when you have no signal. We also have over 16,000 O2 Wifi hotspots available to connect to for free, which offer speeds up to 10 times faster than a normal mobile connection. 5G explained You must have a 5G enabled device on the Vodafone 5G network, a Vodafone 5G plan and 5G coverage in the area that you are in. Coverage may be affected by a number of factors. Find out more about our 5G network

If you have an older phone, your options are to upgrade the device to one that supports 4G and 5G, or buy a SIM for a network that still supports 3G when it's cut off by your current provider. The safest option as it stands would be O2.

Transferring files is quite easy with a two-way connection. The only challenge is to make sure that the device will not crash during the process. If it does happen, though, this doesn’t affect the data on the card. You can always transfer more than one file at a time to another mobile device, as long as the cards are of the same size. Events that may trigger an alert include severe flooding, fires and extreme weather. Only the emergency services and government departments, agencies and public bodies that deal with emergencies will be able to send alerts.

Can I update my device to comply with 4G or higher?

The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has today (Wednesday 22 November) announced a range of tax, benefits and savings measures. We round up the key announcements and what they mean for you. Used since 2003 to deliver calls, texts and data using older, less efficient technology, 3G (and ultimately 2G) is being switched off to make room for faster and more reliable 5G networks. If you're upgrading your contract with your current provider, it should be really straightforward to switch to a new deal and keep your number.
