While the Elgato does offer the 4K Capture Utility software, I would advise against it. While it has improved in recent years, and the company has worked to make it a much more usable piece of software, I still prefer using trusted recording and streaming software like OBS Studio, StreamLabs OBS, and XSplit, they will simply crash less, and give a much better user experience. “The Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ is a capture card ahead of its time, bringing features that few beyond the most dedicated creator’s need.”

Note: Adding delay to a video source will also add the delay to the audio from that same source. The audio does not need to be delayed separately. The UK has a reputation for being a cold, rain-drizzled place in the North of Europe. In truth, though, the summer months can be ridiculously warm, compounded further because most buildings aren't designed for air conditioning. Reviewing this unit right now, it's 87F (30C) where I am, and while this isn't necessarily the capture card's fault, it surprised me how warm the 4K60S+ gets even when it's not in use. This wizard will setup OBS Studio based on various details about your computer, such as monitor resolution, performance of your system, and internet speed. It’s a good option for getting started. Elgato Game Capture software has a Settings section, which allows users to adjust how the hardware behaves. If the input to 4K60 S+ is 4K (2160p) at 60 frames per second, the resulting recording will have a resolution of 2160p at 60 frames per second. To capture video directly onto a PC using the 4K Capture Utility, or stream using software such as OBS Studio, connect a USB cable to the 4K60 S+ USB port labeled 'USB' and connect the other end to a Windows PC. This function is for essentially turning off the device from OBS Studio or turning it on. This can be helpful if you’re experiencing issues as a way to soft reset the device. More information in #Troubleshooting. Configure Video If the SD Card features these markings, it can record reliability at 30 MB/s (Megabyte) or 240 Mb/s (Megabit). These are the requirements for uploading HDR video set by YouTube - https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7126552?hl=en

The next option for Output (Scaled) Resolution is what is ultimately recorded to your computer’s disk or sent to the streaming service. If you’re on a slower internet connection or a weaker computer, you can lower the Output (Scaled) Resolution to 1280x720 for example. This USB-C port sends the captured video to your computer via USB 3.x. The USB captured video preview has a latency of around 250 milliseconds (ms).

Since Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ only writes video files to the SD Card, the sustained write speed is important. Inside of the Audio menu inside of Settings, we will want to be sure that Sample Rate is set to 48Khz. Our ElgatoGame Capture devices natively operate at 48Khz. Setting this to 44.1Khz can cause audio stutter, audio drifting over time, or other anomalies.

When an SD card is inserted for the first time into Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ in standalone mode, a settings file called settings.txt is created. This file is used to change the standalone recording settings automatically. In the upper right corner, there is a Delay (ms)field. Enter 200. The properties can now be closed. In the Advanced Audio Settings, find the Sync Offsetcolumn and set the delay to 200ms for the audio source. The setup is very similar to OBS Studio however the placement and names of some settings have changed. For me as a journalist, the ability to bring a device with me, and record footage, all without having a need for a bulky computer, capture combo seems like a dream come true. Even beyond behind closed door sessions, the possibilities for an external capture card that records right onto an SD card at 4K are endless.

Desktop Audio refers to the sound that comes out of your system. Default will attempt to use the same device as you have set for your computer. But if you have a specific setup which you don't wish to have change, you can specify a specific device.Yes, regardless of which Elgato capture device you own, you'll be able to capture your Xbox Series X/S gameplay on day one. In this guide we’ll show you how to use your ElgatoGame Capture HD60 S+ with OBS Studio and configure the software to get the most out of your device for recording or streaming. While this guide is written for OBS Studio, many of the steps are the same for Streamlabs OBS.
