You may be wondering why getting the wrists involved is bad for your putting stroke. For one thing, excess wrist action can cause you to close the blade and pull the golf ball, or put too much “hit” into impact and lose distance control. Your left thumb should be slightly on the left side of the shaft, rather than running down the centre.

This grip is a slight variation on the popular overlap version used when taking a full swing. How does it work? The claw grip may feel very unnatural if you’re someone who has made the swap from a conventional grip. Parallel design has uniform lower hand profile to minimise grip pressure and maintain putter head path for a more consistent stroke The tennis ball solution is good way to test it out. I would really love to see a USGA equipment rule that states dimensional limits to the flare. As it's written currently, it reads in a "we know it when we see it" way. With your right hand, you have some options to choose from – you can either grip the handle with your palm facing away from you (so that the shaft sits snuggly in there), or you can take a claw grip to ensure the right hand isn’t too dominant during the stroke. AdvantagesUtilizing such muscles helps to reduce putter face angle rotation caused by wrist manipulation while improving putting stroke path for greater consistency. Your hands should be in the centre of the grip, rather than too close to the top or bottom. Your thumbs should rest down the centre of the shaft. A “pendulum-style” stroke, controlled by the arms and shoulders, delivers a square blade to the ball more consistently. It’s also easier to repeat or duplicate and doesn’t require perfectly timing the “release” of your hands through impact. Enhanced Spyne™ Technology –The new Spyne™ Technology has an improved, embossed ridge along the underside of the grip, engineered to guide golfers to repeatable hand placement, making it easier to square the face at impact To complete the grip, add your right thumb and index finger to the handle, below your left hand, just as you would with a traditional claw grip. Advantages

Test out all the different grip variations next time you’re out on the putting green, or having a casual social round with mates, and find out which one feels best for you. Position your right hand underneath, so that the handle runs through the crevice between your index finger and thumb (as if it were a pencil). The claw grip is perfect for golfers who have overactive hands and wrists, or struggle to control the club face throughout the stroke (either flaring it open, or closing it at impact, causing the ball to start offline). Super Stroke’s latest offering is probably going to be a polarizing product, both from those who don’t want to try it and those who have. Put me in the camp of I can’t tell if I love it or not. There is little doubt that it has produced some positive results, but my mind starts filling up with thoughts about playing a putter that is losing so much loft. I want to say that believing is seeing, and in that case, it’s a different option that could be worthy of a look. Before you do that though, I would take a good look at what putter is in the bag and if you think it would work with a grip like this.

Superstroke Traxion Wristlock Putter Grip

It takes almost all of the right hand out of the stroke, and instead lets the left arm and hand do all the work (including determining speed and direction). How does it work? Introducing Zenergy, SuperStroke’s new line of putter grips featuring enhanced Spyne technology, new multi-zone texturing, and our patented no-taper shape for unmatched confidence to quiet your hands – and your mind. This looks like a great idea but more info is needed – you provided some on the length of the putter might not change, but you showed it against your forearm rather than your wrist. Sorry but I do not know the exact dimensions of that hump but I have used this grip on a few putters over the last few years. I found the most success/natural feel putting cross handed with a putter that is over 35" in length. With a standard length putter that hump creates an unbalanced feeling for me due to my left or right hand feeling like its holding a different grip than the other. With the longer putter I feel like I can create that forward press into my left arm with the hump and then I have a more symmetrical feeling with my hands lower on the grip. Hope that helps Below, I’ll break down the seven most common putting grips used on the PGA Tour and list the pros and cons to help you decide which one is right for you.

Designed to accept all SuperStroke “Tech-Port” accessories including the CounterCore weight system to engage the larger muscles for a more stable and repeatable putting stroke. Utilising such muscles helps to reduce putter face angle rotation caused by wrist manipulation while improving putting stroke path for greater consistency. When the USGA and R&A banned the putting technique known as “anchoring” in 2016, golfers who’d been using that style started scrambling for a new solution – one that would prevent the lead wrist from breaking down during the stroke, much like anchoring had done. Note: I’ll be describing each grip as if I were talking to right-handed players (sorry to all you lefties out there, you’ll just have to flip everything I say). 1. Conventional (Reverse Overlap) What is it?Upside for me is that I already prefer a slightly longer putter. So the length likely wouldn't need to change. The best way to decide which putting grip is for you is to experiment with all the different techniques to determine the one that feels most comfortable, and allows to your roll your putts with consistent speed control, and directional control. Each technique has its advantages and disadvantages, and there is no ‘right or wrong’ way to grip your putter. What sized putter grip should I use? It is very different to a conventional set-up and involves pinching the putter with little more than the fingertips on the right hand, in conjunction with a stable left hand. How does it work? This grip may be better for players with larger hands, or those who use a thinner grip (unlike the chunky SuperStroke grip that I have on my putter). Who uses it?
