To begin, I suppose that I should note the Journal is best enjoyed by people who have finished watching Gravity Falls. The first section - the Author's original notes - are enjoyable without any context, as well as Dipper and Mabel's additions that they make throughout the show's run, but after that, things kind of require the context of the show to be fully understood and appreciated. It was so much fun to see the information about the monsters, and also see the notes from Mabel and Dipper to various things when they figured out what would help against x monster. While I appreciated the sections Dipper and Mabel added (as it tied in with the show where Dipper was in possession of the book), I really read this book for Ford Pines. He's a brilliant, sometimes oblivious man, who means well but doesn't quite get there. His words are often as eloquent as his handwriting, and his witty quips that fill in the notes of the book never failed to make me smile. Every crossed out section referring to his brother made my heart ache, and we finally got to see his relationship with Fiddleford in depth. The journals were recovered by Soos, apparently unharmed after Weirdmageddon had ended. Soos brought the journals to Dipper. Apparently, defeating Bill didn't just de-weird the town, it also restored many things he destroyed, including the journals. After Dipper kept the Journals to himself for a few days, he revealed them to Ford. The family decided to throw them into the Bottomless Pit to rid themselves of the trouble caused by them, and because things thrown into the pit could end up anywhere. [1] Contents [ ] The Crawlspace [ ] I love Gravity Falls with the fiery burning passion of a million blazing suns holding a barbecue. It's smart, funny, full of heart, colorful, imaginative, and basically as perfectly executed a show as anyone could hope for. Adults and kids love it in equal measure and no wonder.

This suggests that when, before being erased from reality in the series finale, Bill gives a message that when reversed says "A-X-O-L-O-T-L! My time has come to burn! I invoke the ancient power that I may return!," he is actually invoking the Axolotl for redemption for his crime, and that there is one way to get absolved: he has to take "a different form" in "a different time." Grunkle Stan said I was being paranoid, but according to this book, Gravity Falls has this secret dark side.

Fiddleford is stated to have met Blind Ivan when he was still working for Ford, and secretly recruited him into the Society of the Blind Eye without Ford realizing, by slipping him a card with the society's symbol. However, in the show, Fiddleford is stated to have founded the society after parting ways with Ford and after he erased his memory, basing the symbol on a crossed-out blueprint of the portal. After several weeks of flipping through the Journal and rereading it, I think I can finally gather my thoughts enough to actually write something for this review. The line about "sixty degrees that come in threes" apparently refers to the fact that Bill's shape is an equilateral triangle: three sets of sixty degree angles (adding up to 180 degrees). This is a book many dark forces want to get their hands on, so beware anyone who tries to take it from you (especially if they have glowing yellow eyes)! In the section describing Ford’s travels in the multiverse, he comes across multiple groups who appear to worship the creature: when he escapes from Bill and meets fellow dimensional refugees trapped in the Nightmare Realm they use the phrase "praise the Axolotl," and he is rescued from danger by an alien woman known as Jheselbraum the Unswerving or The Oracle, who in addition to repairing his wounds, installing the Bill-proof metal plate in his head, and telling him he "has the face of the man destined to defeat Bill," lives in a shrine covered in depictions of axolotls. Little details, filling in the gaps of stuff we've seen on the show, tons of new information we've never seen before, a ton of imaginative creatures, and Lovecraftian horror in the form of Bill Cipher and the havoc he wreaks over the life of the Author as well as the people of Gravity Falls. In the commentaries on Gravity Falls: The Complete Series, Alex Hirsch stated that there are still several codes in the book that he has not seen anyone solve yet. Aoshima | British dog man | Clay monsters | Dippy Fresh | Ernesto | Flavor Pups | Footbot | Griffin | Hand Witch | Hot Elf | Impossibeast | Judge Kitty Kitty Meow Meow Face-Shwartstein | Ogres | Probabilitor the Annoying | Shimmery Twinkleheart | Stuffed Animal Tree | Xyler and Craz | Waffle Guards Over thirty years before Dipper and Mabel Pines' arrival in Gravity Falls, Ford documented the strange and paranormal activities of Gravity Falls. Out of paranoia he was being watched, Ford began hiding his three books in various areas of the town, hoping to keep their knowledge secret to prevent the opening of the Interdimensional Portal. After hiding the second and third, he entrusted hiding Journal 1 to his brother Stan, but Stan became furious when the pair had just reunited after so long only for him to be sent away again. Vigenère cipher is a series of Caesar ciphers where each letter shift depends on a key word. Vigenère ciphers use a Vigenère square, like the one below, to encrypt the message. The square is 26 rows of Caesar ciphers starting with a zero letter shift. On each additional row, the shift of the letters is increased by 1.
