I don’t know if CoHo needs to go back to school or something, but there’s a biiiiiig difference between history and chemistry, and our main characters are missing the latter. I started listening to It Starts With Us, but then went to the library and saw it in the "Just Arrived" section. I wasn’t fond of the diary entries to Ellen in the first book and I especially didn’t like them here. the past of atlas was not a thing i thought i needed to read, i liked the fact we could read an interaction between atlas’s mother and him because it all made sense.Kirkus Reviews wrote, "Through palpable tension balanced with glimmers of hope, Hoover beautifully captures the heartbreak and joy of starting over. I remember vividly the experience of reading It Ends with Us, how every page felt riveting and every moment essential.

The love story continues with Atlas Corrigan and Lily Bloom through It Starts with Us nearly a year after their last encounter . D., the Finding The Way Out Challenge is designed to help shape new habits and norms for political tolerance and courageous compassion. While playing with the sweet idea of a reunited first love, Hoover makes the struggle of relationships clear: You always have to work towards love.

Let me start by saying this: there’s going to be a lot of hate for this book for the sole reason people just want to dislike this author for their popularity and there’s this hate train going on for the littlest things this author does so I already know people are going to just come out of the woodworks and find the tiniest thing to hate on this. However, she is hesitant to text Atlas anticipating the negative reaction of her abusive ex-husband and father of her child. Marianka Swain of The Daily Telegraph gave the novel 2 out of 5 stars, describing Hoover's writing quality as "closer to Fifty Shades of Grey, a strange mix of twee and graphic, plus the added irritant of solemn therapy-speak pronouncements. I just don't understand or stand for the unwarranted amount of hate that goes into BASHING books just for the way they are written. like if you can’t handle seeing a one star review or acknowledging that people have different opinions, then don’t read one star reviews!

Picked up it starts with us ( funnily enough I actually hadn’t heard all the hype around it, I wasn’t one who had book tok come up on my fyp) however this thrust me back into the world of reading that am I so grateful for! The novel never paints them in a negative light but rather shows how these people may not fit in the lives of those recovering from abuse. Everything about this book annoyed me; from lack of plot and bland characters, to commentary devoid of nuance and whole sections of the first book copied and pasted into the text. also ps, ryle deserved much MUCH worse - it’s been 6 years since i read IEWU and the only thing he gained was the fucking audacity. In short, ‘It Starts With Us’ is nothing but an extended epilogue that could’ve been a bonus chapter.Fans will recognize the characters from Hoover’s wildly successful bestseller It Ends With Us, but even newcomers will love this sensitive tale about a survivor contemplating a well-earned shot at happiness. It's a brilliant book and I only read it again as I wanted to start the next book 'it starts with us' but honestly glad I did it honestly fills my heart and brakes it all in one. I can’t for the life of me understand why this series is hailed as one about ending the cycle of abuse, since the cycle of abuse in the books doesn’t even end! It shows how realistic, how tragic and how even a happily ever after is still shadowed by the ache and reminder of abuse. Am I the only person on this planet to ever want a full length book on Theo and their most likely forbidden romance?
