So, we need to be focused (and not drift) on the “why” first and the “what” second. So if Christ (the “why”) is your primary or major definite purpose, your “secondary definite purpose” (the “what”) should be motivated to serve God and people and to become more like Christ Himself. This scripture puts goals and faith into the right perspective: What “secret code” forced this so-called devil to confess? I’d like to think it was the name of Jesus, which has authority. For without it, I don’t see how such a confession could have been made. If the devil were conversing with him, it is probably more likely that he outwitted Hill. Hill does not give us any convincing reason why or how he has compelled the Father of Lies to tell the truth.

Sharon Lechter's interruption every 5 minutes is very distracting so I deleted them (see below). She just repeats what Hill said, added her opinion and then asked a question that made you feel like you were in a primary school classroom. Sharon may have had good intentions with her commentary but it does not add value. It is a really great book with an almost timeless message. Unfortunately I found the editor's comments - which are placed throughout the book - to be dated and, at times, condescending. I would have enjoyed the book much more without the commentary from the editor. But the content written by Napoleon Hill was suburb.

This was due to its controversial title and its critique of churches and schools. The book is structured as if Hill (Mr. Earthbound) is interviewing the devil, and it has an engaging Q and A structure. While the devil can be viewed from a Christian perspective, it's more pragmatic to consider the devil as the darkness within us – the doubts and anxieties that discourage us from realizing our full potential.It is a sin to accept from life anything one does not want because that indicates an unpardonable neglect to use the mind. and I would be leery of what the man is really all about when it comes to understanding whether the man loved Jesus or not.

He has delivered me from a trap that surely was going to destroy me. I was researching utube and sermons and info on this, and I was able to get out of the trap. I seriously doubt that any man can avail himself of the benefits of his “other self” as long as he is steeped in greed and avarice, envy and fear,Thing we have to remember is the devil is a liar, so people asking questions and leaving comments on here as if theyve taken what the devil said word for word is just as big a fool as the supposed 98% he mentions….. reason i say supposed is i believe that to be a lie…. i believe brainwashed people and unbelievers evil doers are high but not 98% its the devil trying to aound bigger than he seems…

They are inspired by some form of defeat, failure, or neglect by human beings to adapt themselves to nature’s laws in a positive way. Then I heard hill ask something about how would the devil respond rather than “how would you respond.” The man with the most definite plan and purpose and the most power rides on to victory. The others scurry for cover and get crushed under the heels of those who are more determined. To attain mental, spiritual, and physical freedom, we must follow seven principles and escape the devil’s grasp. What are some of the excuses you make for not fulfilling your goals? Perhaps it's not having enough time or enough money. Maybe it's that somebody is standing in your way, or that someone else has already achieved what you want to do, so what's the point?

Most importantly Jesus loves us all, he truely is the way the truth and the life..in him alone u can do all things, when you get to busy and put him on the shelf, this drifting can slowly start and how slowly it starts. So slow you don’t see it until, if fortunate enough you come out the other side and can see. You may be surprised to know that love is one of my most effective baits. With it I lead into the habit of drifting those whom I could attract with nothing else. Since I believe in His righteousness (the Righteousness of Christ), then why wouldn’t you of course then believe that you OWN that righteousness. The Bible states that those who put their faith in Jesus Christ are saved. Now perhaps that means their major definite purpose is to serve God and become more like Christ and not drift from Him, but Hill seems to think any definite purpose will do. But certainly, there are very focused, high-achieving millionaires who are not saved. So on this all-important eternal issue, the book might be better titled, “Outwitting Napoleon Hill” (and his readers).
