Description

The exhilarating second Cogheart Adventure: the bestselling series of fantastical imagination set in a gripping Victorian world, from award-winning Peter Bunzl. These quotes feel really relevant and important to me considering what's been happening over the last couple of days, but the second is important and doubly special to me because it is something so deeply true about our current society and I respect Peter for using Lily's difference to make sure children know that it's okay to be different. I love the way the clockwork technology in this story is woven into Victorian England, complete with mechanicals, hybrids, and history. Everything that ever was or would be, all mixed together in a soup of being; of shouting and jumping, moving and bumping. The surprises kept coming, and the author manages to weave emotion into the proceedings of the story and truly is laudable.

The thing that really made me fall in love with this book is its theme of friendship and family, and what it really means, what truly makes us human.Eight months after their hair-raising adventure in Cogheart, we find Robert at Brackenbridge Manor with Lily, her papa, Malkin and the rest. It also discusses what it means to be different, what family really is, how it feels to loose someone close to you, and if love also means trust. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The only difference that I experienced was the pacing, I had the feeling that this one was more fast-paced and I liked that a lot.

Lily struggles with her father’s overprotectiveness and wishes she could prove herself, and Robert especially has to make some difficult decisions.Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. I really totally adored this book, and look-forward to seeing the faces of the young people (and old people) who get to be part of this special, extraordinary world.
