One final thing that I will add to my rant: aside from the overuse of “smirk” and everyone’s face falling at the drop of a hat, this book also had quite a few spelling and grammatical mistakes.

Honestly, it really did take me a little while to settle in to this book (after the "scorching" hot intro) and also to relate to these characters but at some point about midway through I totally began to feel the "magic" and everything snowballed for me after that.
