The Astra Militarum, Combat Patrol box is probably the best starting point regarding value for money. It will give you; A recent Rogal Dorn Battle Tank rules preview also revealed the Guard are getting a new Turret Weapon rule that’ll allow its tanks to fire their main, turret-based guns at faraway targets even if there are enemy units fighting them in melee. Resplendent in golden armour atop his cybernetic horse Konstantin, Lord Solar Leontus is effectively the new ‘big boss’ of the Imperial Guard. This death world is a jungle paradise, until you set foot on it. Everything wants to kill you there, and we do mean absolutely everything. The Catachan Jungle Fighters make up the core of their Imperial Guard regiment, deadly foes who look down on anyone who hasn’t suffered as they have. The Catachan Regimental Doctrine of Brutal Strength buffs Infantry units to gain +1 to Strength and +1 to Leadership if they’re near an officer, which can completely transform how you play your army. We mentioned above that the Astra Militarum doesn’t fare well in melee – that doesn’t apply to Catachan armies. Each Combat Patrol is supposed to be balanced against all the others. That might be hard to believe when looking at the contents of the Adeptus Custodes box set, as the boys in gold are notoriously hard!

They operate as an ‘elite’ army in Warhammer 40k, meaning they tend to field fewer miniatures than their opponents for the same budget of points, but each model can hope to deal out more punishment to the enemy before it gets blown away. The Psychic Awakening: The Greater Good supplement gifted the Guard new Tank Ace upgrades to beef up your key vehicles, as well as rules for creating your own custom Regimental Doctrines. And the Imperial Armour Compendium, whilst mainly focusing on Forge World models, has plenty of rules that can be used in conjunction with your Astra Militarum force. For example, if you’re looking at building a Death Korps of Krieg army then the included Regimental Doctrine for them is well worth paying attention to. If you are competitive, you will have a decent grasp of the game after playing it at 1,000 points and will know what works and what does not. For example, adding 15 Ratlings to your force is probably not the way to go.Of course, you can’t throw bodies into the mincer, but you can (and indeed must) take a fair amount of casualties without wincing too much.

The Leman Russ battle tank is the dumpy AK47 of the tank world. It comes with a bajilion weapon options, but either the standard battle cannon or the demolisher cannon are the best choices for the main turret gun. Multi-melta sponsons are also particularly entertaining against enemy armour and heavy infantry, but cost a bunch more points than a pair of good ol’ heavy bolters. For the hull gun, I tend to favour the lascannon due to the builds that make sense on the infantry squads (again, see the Sneaky Build Tips). Many people want to proxy Lord Solar or adapt his model because they dislike it. This is a normal feeling. It’s a terrible model. :-)In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. If you would like to find out more information, please visit http://www.aboutads.info/choices/or http://www.youronlinechoices.com. The answer is now NO. This is from the latest Balance Dataslate… the Reinforcements Stratage is not a Battle Tactic. Therefore, its CP cost cannot be changed. The Astra Militarum serves as the primary ground-based military force of the Imperium, responsible for defending the Imperium’s vast territories, waging wars of conquest, and countering external threats. Even their special weapons platforms and Imperial Guard tanks aren’t as well armoured as some other forces’ equivalents, so you’ll have to keep an eye on damage if you want to succeed.
