I hope Abigail will find love in one of the two guys that she’s interested in and the Miles won’t give up on Shelby and choose her an show her what love is like and she can lean on her to heal and not be the broken girl who’s use to !

As much as Mile says she loves Shelby, she will feel loved again and see that what she had as a teenager wasn’t lust. My tears mixed with the water running down my face as I crossed the cemetery lawn and pulled open the door of the black SUV. The history and emotion mixed with her super hot neighbor slash ex-stepbrother are almost too much for her, but if his charm wasn't enough to pull her in, his daughter certainly would do the trick. In every book, Anne-Marie strives to bring you swoon worthy romance that curls your toes while keeping things sweet and clean. And there was something about the way he insisted on being protective if me that made my whole body feel light.

Most of the other guests were leaving, sprinting to their cars with their hands or purses over their heads. The love has been so rough and Shelby didn’t know how to express how much she loves Miles because she was devastated by his death but when Mile has so much love for her daughter and she has patients she can wait, until Shelby finds out. Reviewer ★★★★★ "Each time I assumed the book would be predictable, a twist popped up and kept me hooked. I thought it was going to be based off Shelby and Miles but then Abigail had her own chapters about her love life.

I know I am a fast reader, but I felt like I read this book super fast, and I just felt like it was because there wasn’t a whole lot of meat to it. I was the only one left carrying the burden of the failure that was our small, dysfunctional family. Character interactions are set up based on the past but we never got to see enough of it to make the interactions and personal mindsets truly make sense. Not gonna lie but the fact that he was kinda of her ex-stepbrother made things a bit weird but i loved the way he cared about her and the way his love was truly pure that he didn't force it on her, but that ending oh man! I need to take TikTok recommendations with a grain of salt, the scene the author showed was taken completely out of context and made to seem way more dramatic than it was.She is a lovely woman and a good friend, but she is a side-character with no major influence on the story. She blames Miles for something that isn't his fault, like, the fact that her boyfriend left her, even if Miles talked to him and that's what made him leave her, is not Miles fault. The ripples would go for only a moment until another drop would fall, and the effect would happen all over again.

Which brings me to my general feel of the book which is that, even though there are so many allusions to the fact that Shelby lived horrible things and is dealing with PTSD, none of that shows enough for the character to be consistent because we don't have a clear picture of what happened to her. Then you bring Abi, Anders and Bash into the mix and I’m so excited to find out what the story is here, I’m expecting a lot more from Bash in part two! Growing up, I liked superheroes and YA action novels (and I still do) but full fledged romance novels?

I had hope that she would come to terms with what happened in her past, and she'd forgive the man who held so much love for her. Jorgenson, the town’s mayor, wiped his forehead with his handkerchief before stuffing it back into his suit coat. There is also a secondary romance in the background concerning Abigail which seems to come out of nowhere and has no clear direction besides romance. It’s understandable that as part of a series, you want some cliff hangers but it’s hard to create tension when you’re not invested into the web of half baked characters and stories.

Especially when his love for his daughter is contagious, or the way he looks at me when he doesn't know I see him. She’s one of the only residents who doesn’t know about my past and seems to be looking for the same thing I am, a place to belong. If the author would have followed one story line and gave the characters some well developed story lines this story had so much potential. Just to show you what I mean when I say this man gives me the ick: Somewhere in the story he wants to blow off some steam and gets in to his self-build ‘gym’. so I bought it and went in with low standards - no offense to the author, I just didnt have high standards for romance novels in general - and I was blown away!

One would think that the second book would deal with another couple, but we haven't come to a checkpoint or resting point with the first. I would give anything to change the circumstance of my childhood and if there's a chance that Miles and Tamara can make it work, I wouldn't forgive myself if I stood in their way. This book from start to finish had me smiling, crying and even a moment or two screaming at Shelby and Miles realize what's going on. Miles had been my protector when we were kids, but then our parents divorced and something in him changed in high school. Having to deal with the stress from what she endured growing up, and facing the different people in town and their judgement, it’s so stressful.
