This is only the second book I have read by this author and already I am a huge fan and want to read more. Her writing is amazing and I am intrigued by what her other work has to offer.

At Holly Brookes Children’s Home, the two girls unite in the face of horrific abuse and form an unbreakable bond of loyalty.I have read many gangland books inc all of the authors previous but got to say this for me was probably the grittiest, hard hitting and genuinely brutal one yet The plot was too simple for a suspense/thriller novel. There were so many little off-shoots that the plot could have taken that would have been mildly interesting and suspenseful. Unfortunately, the author took none of these and we were left with the unfulfilled hope that the story would become complex and live up to what it was marketed as. And yes, I am aware it’s a gangster novel, so the characters don’t have to be nice. But the characters I’m expected to root for just have no reason for me to care for them besides the fact that I’m reading this story from their perspective. Dara Tailor has had to grow up fast. With a mother addicted to cocaine, Dara must look after her seven younger siblings, until social services split them up for ever. This might also be because I think that Declan, one of the characters that seems to be Michael's right hand man, is behind the revenge. And I think Michael's comeuppance is still waiting for him. But I think I might be reading far too much into it. No other reader has made a similar suggestion from what I can see.

BETRAYAL is the second book of Martina’s I have read (I read THE TAKE early last year) and I cannot wait to devour more of her titles. There’s something about the raw, grittiness of the worlds she creates that pulls you in and pops you right in the middle of it. The narrative covers a wide spectrum of human emotions, including a very caring (dare I say loving) attitude within family life - to extreme violence within the criminal fraternity, demonstrated in particular by the main character in the plot. As with Cole’s previous books, the chapters are fairly short and the style and flow of writing is easy to follow but it’s really just the same old stories and characters. And yet as the author is so so good at doing it shows friendship and how it can get people through any situation and it shows sacrifice and love Mám rada príbehy z mafiánskeho prostredia. Ultimately you believe the story is about that fierce loyalty of family but sometimes pride and jealously can be the strongest emotion. I had an idea of what I was letting myself in for reading BETRAYAL. Martina Cole has this magic of being able to create characters and families, all with their own different traits, but blend together really well. Got to mention on a lighter note the Mother from hell,Phyllis,is a classic written character, I couldn’t stand her ( the love to hate was strong ) and as for Judy, well you will be shouting at the book about her….

This book is probably the worst book I've ever read. Literally. I read "The Graft" when I was a teenager and I thought it was alright, so when I did a book swap with this book, I thought it would be an easy read, but okay. There he meets Jade an older woman, a woman who knows the business and helps him become the new face out there. For Aiden... its love at first sight.

There are trigger points that deal with chid abuse, sexual and physical, rape, violence towards women, drug taking and if you flinch at the C word be prepared to flinch a lot you can say that this is a good book–if mafia stories written on wattpad by 11-year-olds are your standard.Almost every woman in this book is treated awfully, and our “heroes” consist of a psychopathic cradle-snatcher, a domestic abuser, and a womaniser who treats attachment as a fatal flaw. All these heroes are incredibly hypocritical towards their partners and the people around them, and never get called out for it.
