Montgomery Bonbon owes much of his persona to Monsieur Hercule Poirot, and it makes me laugh, thinking that someday, some kid (or grown-up! It's funny in all the right spots (the illustrations are a highlight for me, starting with the map of the museum and going through various clues and case boards as Bonbon figures out more of the case.

Sounds like the world’s best detective needs to make an appearance and discover what happened and who the murderer/thief is. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. The capers are great, and I enjoyed plunging into the nostalgia of watching Pirot when I was younger - the urge to don a bushy mustache, butcher an accent (I can't do any accent), and look for clues.a completely absorbing read, with the most fabulous illustrations by Claire Powell bringing each character to life. And there is never any doubt that, without the false moustache and raincoat, Montgomery Bonbon looks remarkably like a ten-year-old girl.

It seems that Bonnie and Grampa Banks have not had a lot of luck taking a real break during their holiday times. In exploring this we are led through a satisfying murder mystery, with a cast of colourful characters, and amusing interactions. They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. Since Dana realised Bonnie’s alter ego, Bonnie has been avoiding her, but evidently none too subtly.

A nice mystery book for kids - with many visual appeals on pages, thanks to illustrations and page layouts. From the outset when her cheese and onion crisps cause a stir upon entry over the causeway, there are problems. To celebrate the release of the brilliantly funny new children’s book Montgomery Bonbon: Murder at the Museum written by comedian Alasdair Beckett-King and illustrated by Claire Powell, we joined forces with Walker Books to create a fun, free museum trail for families! Almost a mix of the Malamander series by Thomas Taylor and Alex T Smith’s penguin detective, readers will enjoy the word play as Bonnie and her grandfather arrive at Odde Island, with its Leerie Lighthouse. Beckett-King's other creative stuff but judging by the reaction of my grand-children ( the age group for which it is intended ) it is a very successful piece of writing.I didn't realise until I was writing this review that the author is the guy I've seen on Mock the Week! When Bonnie Montgomery finally gets a break from cracking cases as her alter-ego, Montgomery Bonbon, something terribly fishy happens the moment she and Grampa Banks arrive on Odde Island for half-term – and it's not just the smell of the harbour. Detective Bonbon has been activated and he will leave no stone unturned to discover the truth and bring the killer to justice. Whilst visiting the Hornville Museum with her Grampa an incident occurs in which all the lights go out and then it is discovered that someone had been murdered in a locked room and one of the exhibitions, an eagle, had been stolen.

But they might have heard of the great Montgomery Bonbon, the well-dressed gentleman detective who (apart from the hat and moustache) looks suspiciously like a 10-year-old girl. Not that anyone (other than Grampa Banks) has heard of her… But they might have heard of the great Montgomery Bonbon, the well-dressed gentleman detective who (apart from the hat and moustache) looks suspiciously like a 10-year-old girl. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example.
