I built in my Kona Classic that I got from a group buy earlier in the year. This board is designed by u/AuthenticDanger and was really fun to build and has tons of layout options which I was keen on at the time.

Kailh has a variety of different mechanical switches such as BOX switches, speed switches, low profile, and many other one-off specialty switches. Kailh switches have a notorious reputation for being scratchy, but some of their switches are really well made. So, how do you choose the right Kailh Box Jade switch? It all depends on what you’re looking for in a keyboard switch.

Introduction:

The Kailh Box Mute Jades are better than the Gateron Ink Blue V2 switches with respect to stem wobble in both the N/S and E/W directions. Kailh Pro Light Green Some people prefer Kailh Box Jade Switches because they offer a slightly faster keypress than Cherry MX Blues. However, Kailh Box Jade Switches also have a bit more of a tactile bump than Cherry MX Blues, which some people find annoying. I almost forgot to mention that during this past month I have written one review that is not live at the time I am writing this, done some video game recordings, and done some personal writing. Unfortunately that is not too much specifically for OCC that I can point to, but I have been putting these to use. Similar to the Speed switches, we have found low-profile switchesto not have a noticeable impact on gaming reaction time. They are not a bad option if you are on a budget, but I typically prefer Gateron switches if you are looking for a tactile or linear switch.

Once you’ve decided on the type of switch you want, you need to decide on the weight. Kailh Box Jade switches come in three weights: light, medium, and heavy. The weight you choose will depend on your personal preferences. Kailh is one of the largest producers of mechanical switches with dozens of different switches available. It should be noted, Silent switches are not for everybody. There is a rubbery feel on each keystroke which can feel strange to those who are used to a normal mechanical switch. To date, I have not devised a good way to effectively measure the stems nor housings of Box style switches in the same way that I do for normal, MX-style stems and switches. Additionally, the fact that the measurement sheet also doubles as a means by which someone can effectively test frankenswitching combinations between stems and top housings to estimate wobble without actually having to try the switches first kind of kills the inclusion of the Kailh Box Muted Jades as Box style stems are incompatible with traditional MX style housings. Additionally, it’s worth noting that even on their own, there are a few design details which makes Box switch stems hard to measure in the same fashion, such as:
