The Twins — First and Second Twin know little about themselves as they are not allowed to because Peter Pan does not know what Twins are, and no Lost Boy is allowed to know anything that Peter doesn't. Like Nibs and Curly, the Twins grow up to work in an office.

Also, this one isn’t a big deal, but Nod and Fog are identical twins. The original Lost Boys also had a set of identical twins, and Peter called them both Twin because he couldn’t tell them apart. It’s a shame that Henry didn’t do the same here, because it would have perfectly aligned with her characterization of Peter. The second part of a trilogy series*, The Lost Boy sets the standard as a sequel, yet stands alone as an inspirational, behind-the-scenes, unique tribute to the unsung heroes who dedicate themselves to making a difference in the lives of children in peril. Is Lost Boy great? Unfortunately no, it falls shy of Christina Henry's best. But it is good, and if you have an interest in reading a Peter Pan retelling full of violence, mischief, and childhoods that either last forever or end all too soon, this is likely a book for you! Peter wasn't the lovable innocent child that I know from the Disney movie. Not at all. Peter was cunning and thought only of himself. He brings boys to the island so that he will forever have playmates and he wants them all to love him. That doesn't mean that he cares about them all that much because if they die or get hurt he can just go and get more boys. Peter wants things the way that he wants them and he has all of the power on the island so the boys follow his lead. Almost instantly the roles are reversed, and we're supporting Jamie over the selfish Peter. Peter collects boys to play with, whereas Jamie is the one who cares for them all, and protects them where he can. Yet he's still victim to his own rages, which serves as a reminder that, no matter how in control Jamie seems, he's still just a kid.a b The Lost Boys Panel - Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland. Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook - SuperSummary Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook - SuperSummary

Jamie and Peter have been best friends for as long as he can remember. He is Peter's favourite, his first, the most special one out of all the boys. Jamie has lived with Peter for years, and in all that time hasn't changed even slightly - Peter says they will never grow up. Needless to say that I enjoyed this book thoroughly... which did come as a huge surprise to me. Not because I was expecting it to be bad or not to like it, but because I was so nervous, to begin with, that I feared I wouldn't be able to wholly appreciate it. Like many of Card's works, the novel is an expansion of a short story, his "Lost Boys", which can be found in his short story compilation Maps in a Mirror. [4] According to Card, his original idea for the short story was inspired by Stephen King's Pet Sematary and his dislike of the novel's ending. He wanted to write a story in which the ghost child was not evil, but good. [5] In the short story version, Card assumes Fletcher's role as the protagonist. Some minor plot details are different in this story, such as the protagonist's occupation (an editor for a video game magazine), and the story is told from a first-person perspective instead of the novel's third-person perspective. Though he refers to many real events, such as his writing of Ender's Game, the short story is also completely fictional. Because of his use of himself and his real occupation, real locations and real people, Card had to append a special note stating that the story is fictitious as he received criticism that his story was appropriating the grief of losing a child. [4] [6] [2] However, the character Zap was inspired by Card's son with cerebral palsy. [2] According to Gary Westfahl, Card's short story is "moving" but "deeply offensive" and the "epitome of Card's self-absorption". [7] Jamie is a young boy who lives on the magical fantasy island of Neverland brought to the island by Peter Pan to be one of his playmates. Jamie is Peter's longest serving companion and feels they have a special bond. We all believe him, at first. Even me. That’s how he lures us here with his promises. And then he rips us to pieces.”My dream would be for Christina Henry, in about 8-years, to come out with a sequel to this that completely flips the power balance between Peter and Captain Hook on its head! The majority of my highlights in this book are Jamie AND PETER talking about how much they love each other. The Lost Boy is the long-awaited sequel to A Child Called "It," and is the compelling story of young Dave, who is rescued from his abusive, alcoholic mother and placed in the hands of the foster care system. Whatever is causing this new happiness, be it herself or a person, has free'd her from her prior sadness. "lost boy" also sounds like a reference to being an "outsider" or "different" but it also suggest satisfaction with this new way of life.
