All this stuff is pretty typical of the wide cameras of entry-level 5G phones, but plenty of those are at least a bit cheaper than the Motorola Edge 20 Lite.

The Motorola Edge 20 Lite is a textbook example of how we’d like manufacturers to approach Android. It’s so clean you could mistake it for an unadulterated version of the software, but it does have a few tweaks that give it a character of its own. No complaints about the software, then, but the hardware that powers it is arguably less than ideal. The Motorola Edge 20 Lite has a MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G chipset, the same seen in the cheaper Samsung Galaxy A32 5G. The ultra-wide camera does have one neat feature, though. It can focus on objects just a centimeter or two away from the lens. This is why the camera is used for the Motorola Edge 20 Lite’s macro mode. The original Moto Edge was all about having a curved edge screen. That's no longer the case with the Moto Edge 20 family: all the screens are flat. All the screens are also the same size, at 6.7-inches on the diagonal. As phone sensors have gained more megapixels, the detail of the images captured hasn’t improved stratospherically. I was therefore skeptical of the Edge 20 Lite’s touted 108MP sensor and its ability to deliver decent results.

Found on the rear are a very subtle ‘Moto’ blazon and the camera island, which houses three separate sensors. The front sports the main display, along with a somewhat distracting silver ring around the pinhole selfie camera. This isn’t to say that in good light, with a static subject, the Moto Edge 20 Lite cannot achieve good images, for it certainly can, however it performs well below expectations in almost every way when compared to the competition. Performance – Can keep up with most The secondary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, is not particularly impressive. There’s an unmistakable drop in color saturation, and geometric distortion is quite obvious in big chunks of the outer parts of the frame. Contrast also drops and the lens’s limited optics don’t handle stark light contrast - like leaves against a bright sky –too well. The first option on the list for Motorola Edge 20 Lite is the Chengmi Case. It is made up of high-grade, anti-scratch TPU material which is light in weight. It gives a nice, elegant outlook on your case. It is easy to apply. The clear design enhances the beauty of the device. The cutouts don’t overlap with the ports of the device making it convenient to use. The durable material does not wear off easily making it one of the finest options on the list of 10 Best Cases for Chengmi Case. With lighter usage, it will be possible to extend the battery into a second day and for most people this will be a phone they will never be able to kill with a single day of use.Water-repellent design creates a barrier to help protect against moderate exposure to water, such as accidental spills, splashes or light rain. Not designed to be submersed in water, or exposed to pressurized water, or other liquids; may diminish over time. Not waterproof. Motorola edge 20 pro, edge 20, & edge 20 lite are designed and manufactured by Motorola Mobility LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lenovo." This isn’t the case for all scenes, far from it. In the more even-looking exposures, lifting the shadows just results in exactly the sort of flattened appearance you’d expect from ‘too much’ HDR. But it’s as if the Motorola Edge 20 Lite gives up when HDR is needed most, for sunrises, sunsets, and any time you shoot directly into the sun. The handset is composed entirely of plastic, or to use a kinder term – polycarbonate (read ‘posh plastic’). From the rails to the rear, the device has not a hint of either glass or metal in sight, save of course for the front screen. This doesn’t mean that it doesn’t feel durable however, as it has both heft and presence in the hand and the body doesn’t flex too much when subjected to pressure.

The Motorola Edge 20 Lite has a 32MP OmniVision selfie camera up front. And after all the complaints levelled at the other cameras, this one comes across pretty well. An unsung bonus of plastic is its ability to bend, making it far more suitable for surviving the odd drop or fall when compared to the likes of glass or metal – handsets like the Edge 20 Lite are more likely to continue unscathed in the long term than many more premium options on the market today. It simply refuses to load, showing a ‘device not supported’ error message. This is one of the key reasons to buy a Qualcomm Snapdragon phone instead of a MediaTek one. You’re more likely to run into issues like this with MediaTek, although we expect the Motorola Edge 20 Lite should be able to handle the game okay at medium graphics.

Customer Service

Like most of the Moto G-series phones, the Motorola Edge 20 Lite has a 5,000mAh battery, which usually guarantees a solid day of reasonably heavy use. Or even up to two days for those who don’t use their phone too much.

Where the design of the handset clearly didn’t eat up too much of the budget, the screen is another matter altogether. It is an 6.7 inch 1080p OLED panel, sporting “1 billion” colours, a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR certification, all of the numbers and specifications needed to fit in with the crowd. Mediatek processors have never achieved quite the fame or success of their Qualcomm peers. Although they have been used in many handsets, their presence has typically been taken as the hallmark of a ‘budget’ phone, delivering neither performance or efficiency. The annoying part is the detail is often there. We took a bunch of the more drab-looking Motorola Edge 20 Lite shots into Photoshop, lifted up the shadows, and found plenty of clean-looking detail and color information that the phone’s processing profile does not bring out. In the mid-range, no prizes are offered or expected for design. Phones produced are intended to be sturdy and to evoke the best premium qualities of flagship phones without costing quite as much. The Moto Edge 20 Lite fits somewhere inbetween the promise of quality versus the compromise of utilitarian durability. MicroSD card sold separately. Content with DRM restrictions may not be able to be moved to the card. This is a completely different experience to that of the very long-lasting Moto G30 and G50. On other days it has fared better, making it to bedtime, but still only with single figures of battery charge left. This doesn’t match up with our expectations of a 5,000mAh battery at all.
