Description

After Yasmin finds out about Aidan’s betrayal, we get Julian’s POV where we discover he was the one who shot Darryn, not the other way around. Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. Thank you to the Publisher, Emily, and NetGalley for providing me this free ARC in exchange for an honest review. Yasmin overhears this, goes through his things, finds a gun, and asks him if any of it was real. He tells her he cares about her, but Yasmin has had enough of the greed of people using her, and she kills him.

I love capturing memories. Emotion that’s usually fleeting being frozen forever in time. The wisdom in the gaze of a person who’s lived a full life. The look in someone’s eyes when they realize they’re in love. The joy in their face when they’re laughing at a joke. Photographs help us remember things we’d otherwise forget.”From International bestselling author Emily McIntire comes a dark and delicious fractured fairy tale reimagining of Aladdin. Love J.R. Ward, Nora Roberts, Jeaniene Frost, Karen Marie Moning, Kristen Ashley, Lisa Kleypas and more? Like a great mix of Paranormal Romance, Contemporary Romance, New Adult Romance, Romantic Thrillers, and Erotic Romance/Romantica? If so, then this group is for you. This is a fractured fairytale, a concept my husband did not understand when I tried to explain it's almost like an inspired story based on characters from Aladdin but "Jafar" gets the girl. So if you think you are in for some strange retelling, unfortunately, this book is not that.

I close my eyes and breathe deeply, trying to shake off the anxiety that clogs every pore. There’s always been an incessant need inside me to please other people, to make sure that I’m well liked and that everyone around me is taken care of and happy, and although over the years, I’ve learned different coping mechanisms for easing the burden of my runaway thoughts, there’s never been anything that’s completely cured me of having to put everyone else before me.” It took way too long for Yasmin and Julian’s fake marriage to happen. The first half of the book dragged, made worse by the fact most of it was filled with Yasmin’s love for Aidan and worry of her father finding out. Since there was such a focus on her and Aidan’s relationship for a majority of the novel, it made Yasmin’s character incredibly unlikable because of how unwilling she was to fight for and stay loyal to the man she “loved.” By the time her and Julian felt secure as a couple, the final conflict was happening and then promptly resolved. We didn’t get to really see them as a couple.

Diaries & Calendars

Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, in the United States, Emily McIntire would grow up with a keen love of both reading and writing. This would develop over time, allowing her to establish her own style and approach to the written word, creating something relevant to her. Drawing from numerous other writers, she would show a great sense of flair and imagination when it came to writing. Yasmin is a brat who speaks out of turn, and he's the villain of her story. But he decides she'll be his-no matter what it takes to convince her. The only reason I’m giving it 4/5 stars is because I wish the ending was drawn out longer. It felt cut off in a way and didn’t feel as if it got the attention it deserved. As a reader, I felt as if we didn’t get enough time to see how everything played out and I without spoiling, I will say, I wish the final final conflict was hinted at more throughout the book. It just felt rushed. Plus I wanted more from the epilogue. More explanation on how everything worked out and how things were going. Julian Faraci has one goal: become the most powerful man in the world. He's built a future from broken bones and faded bruises, never caring who he hurt along the way. But when his mentor falls ill, he finds himself on the verge of losing everything, and he'll stop at nothing to inherit what is rightfully his. Even if it means forcing a woman he can't stand into marriage. Looking at the relationship of Lily and Mason, this sees them coming together despite their respective issues in the past. Lily has a hidden past that she likes to keep buried, as the scars haunt her, with her desperately trying to forget about what she’s lost. Then there’s Mason who’s similarly hiding behind an illusion, something which he shares with Lily, as the two find each other. Will they be able to overcome their pasts, can the make a new life together, and what will they discover beneath the surface?

Ian calls Julian, demanding the lamp in exchange for her life. He tells Julian that he has years of pent up aggression that Julian never let him release. He reveals he’s waiting with Darryn Anders (the guy who’s been looking for the lamp for years and was annoyed that Julian’s people were in “his” territory. Riya and Aidan come to Julian’s door where they leave together to rescue Yasmin. They find her tied up with Darryn holding a gun to her head. There’s a scuffle, and it ends with Riya nearly dead, Ian incapacitated, Julian at Darryn’s mercy to protect Yasmin, and Aidan dragging Yasmin away to save her. There’s a gunshot, and Yasmin believes Darryn killed Julian.

As always, Emily does a fantastic job of weaving in the original tales in such a creative way and gives us adult topics from our much beloved childhood stories/movies. Jeannie found the lamp and didn’t tell anyone. She gives it to Yasmin because she overheard Ian talking about Julian’s plans to kill her. Jeannie tells Yasmin to use the lamp to barter for her freedom. Julian Faraci has one goal: become the most powerful man in the world. She then discovers the forged will in her name, and she thinks about how Jeannie said that Julian was going to kill her. There would be four novels in this series, with the third and fourth being released the following year in 2021. Some people say that family is family, blood is blood. But I say that toxic is toxic, and no one is more important than my inner peace, even if it means I lose them for good.” I want to reach into your chest and hold your heart in my hands, making sure it only beats for me,” I rasp. “But I don’t want your firsts, Yasmin. I want your forever.” Holy shit was this amazing!! I absolutely understand why this is people’s favourite!! Like the tension?!?! The slow burn?!?! THE SMUT?????!!!!!!
