Description

The TCL 65P639K does not feature QLED ( Quantum Dot LED) technology. QLED technology is known for its ability to display more accurate and vibrant colors than traditional LED/LCD panels. However, QLED TVs are more expensive than traditional LED/LCD TVs. The TCL 65P639K is compatible with VESA wall mounts with a 400mm x 200mm mounting pattern. This makes it easy to mount the TV on the wall, freeing up space in your living room. However, it’s important to note that the TV is quite heavy, weighing 21.6kg, so it’s important to use a sturdy wall mount to support its weight. The What Hi-Fi? team has more than 100 years of experience reviewing, testing, and writing about consumer electronics. There are of course a few key differences between the 2022 and 2023 models. The C835K can’t hit the same levels of brightness as its successor, with peak brightness of 1,500 nits compared to 2,000 nits. It also uses an older processor – AiPQ 2.0 – meaning HDR tone-mapping and general processing aren’t quite as impressive. There’s no 98in option either, and the speaker system is powered differently, with two 15W drivers and a single 30W driver in place of the pair of 25W drivers and single 20W driver on the C835K. The 65-inch take on LG's C3 earned just the four stars, but that was for a very good reason: it wasn't a big improvement on the C2. This allowed rivals such as the Sony A80L to gain ground. But if it's gaming we're talking about, LG's effort is the better bet.

Usually, we'd expect a brand to unveil all its plans for the coming year at CES 2021 (the biggest tech expo of the year). However, TCL runs on a slightly different release schedule than many TV brands, which can mean CES was a bit light on concrete information.

Immersion Evolution

If you want a 65-inch TV but don’t fancy a separate sound bar or speaker system then the Panasonic TX-65LZ2000B is the one to get. While its giant speaker bar isn’t exactly subtle, we found its inbuilt audio system is one of the best we have experienced during our tests, with it offering truly impressive Atmos virtualisation.

The C845K’s impressive panel specifications are controlled by the third generation of TCL’s AI-informed AiPQ 3.0 processor, which includes an upscaling engine built on deep learning techniques. The Sony A80L is the TV surprise of the year. It's based on 'traditional' OLED technology (i.e. it's not a QD-OLED or MLA model) so we broadly thought we knew what to expect, but it stunned us during our extensive test by offering a picture performance with a near-perfect balance of the spectacular and the subtle. It sounds good by TV standards, too, and the feature set will be strong enough for all but the most hardcore of gamers. The Mini LEDs make the 6-Series brighter and more colorful than before, all while preventing light bleed. While the 2020 models don’t have proper HDMI 2.1 ports for full bandwidth 4K/120Hz, the 6-Series is one of the very first TVs to come with THX Certified Game Mode for 1440p/120Hz gaming – which means it’s more than capable of playing most of the high refresh rate console games out there right now. The TCL 65P639K does not feature a One Connect Box. A One Connect Box is a separate box that houses all of the TV’s ports and inputs, making it easier to manage cables and connections. While this feature may not be present in the TCL 65P639K, it still has a range of input ports, including HDMI, USB, and Ethernet, that allow you to connect various devices such as gaming consoles, media players, and laptops. Engage in immersive entertainment with TCL 65 Inch TVs. Step into the heart of the action, whether it's cinematic storytelling or gaming excitement. Our TVs create an experience that's both captivating and engaging, enveloping you in content that feels larger than life.
