It’s one of those things you don’t think you need but are glad are there when you need them. [13] 3. Sensor and depth of field You can use it to viewimageslarger, touchto focus, settings, etc. This is not a flip screen, but you can always use yourphoneas an external viewfinder.
The other two tiny pin-head buttons on the top plate govern the camera’s drive mode – providing a swift means of switching between fully automatic point and shoot mode and user-adjustable Program mode, for example, while we also get a button for switching to 4K Photo Mode, another carry-over feature from the Panasonic version of this camera. Selecting 4K Photo Mode does limit manual access to the top tier ISO settings however – with the maximum selectable being ISO6400 in this mode. The star filter is a bit odd: the camera selects which lights to generate a star burst for and leaves alarge area without bursts. It doesn't look right, but this behavior was confirmed through a number of shots. Being a bang-up-to-date release, and with Leica’s long standing partnership with Panasonic still intact, it’s unsurprising that this compact arrives with the option of 4K video and 4K resolution photos; both pretty much standard issue across that electronic manufacturer’s range now. The Leica D-Lux 7 is a premium compact camera with a 17 megapixel, multi-aspect Micro Four Thirds sensor.

The biggest difference is mostly the 4k recording that you can then use for securing the exact moment you want and other fancy things like focusing after the fact.
Wetzlar, 20th November 2018. Introducing the new and improved Leica D-Lux 7: the high-performance compact camera from Leica Camera AG featuring a fast Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9–34 mm f/1.7–2.8 ASPH. zoom lens (equivalent to 24–75mm in 35mm format). The new Leica D-Lux 7 boasts a new, higher-resolution four-thirds sensor that delivers outstanding picture quality in all shooting scenarios. The D-Lux 7 enhances performance through numerous new functions and features including a touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity and USB-C charging capability. The Leica D-Lux 7 is the ideal everyday companion; an extremely versatile camera that offers maximum photographic freedom for capturing unique moments with impressive quality. Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body. It is hard to find more perfect travel photography camera then the D-Lux 7 as it has everything covered. You want a sweeping vista? Covered. Telephoto portrait with Bokeh? Covered.
Here there’s the ability to capture video clips in 4K at up to a respectable 30fps. The default setting on the camera is otherwise Full HD video clips, giving users a modicum of choice depending on the desired use for said footage, and how much removable memory (via optional SD card once again) is available to store all that data, of course.
Some of the filters affect the RAW image as well as the JPG, other filters only affect the JPG. However, if you wantbe certain that both versions of an image are saved (with and without filter) there is a custom option that will make the camerado so. Verdict From 24mm to 75mm you have covered pretty much everything you could ever want in a zoom, the f1.7 to f2.8 makes it a top of the line zoom, and once you consider the size, it is seriously mind blowing on a 43 sensor. Here are the apertures for each focal length: Focal length (eq.) One might conclude that this would immediately deliver a markedly better image quality than the average compact with a physically smaller imaging chip and you might be right, save for the fact that said sensor is, in this model, out of necessity married to a relatively modest – in terms of size – Leica manufactured lens. Thus results are, to our eyes, neither as sharp as an interchangeable lens mirrorless camera with the same sensor, nor an APS-C DSLR you could alternatively get for the price. The aspect ratio is conveniently set with a switch on the lens barrel. The options are: 3:2, 16:9, 1:1, and 4:3. While it doesn't affect image quality as such, it does affect resolution, but in a non-obvious way. The sensor is a 16.8 MP four-thirds-sized sensor (approx. 4732 x 3550 pixels), but none of the aspect ratios actually utilize the entire surface of the sensor, the most you'll get is 12.7MP.
Condition guide
Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements andoptically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect theimagery. Let’s now look at the extras in our Leica D-lux 7 review. Being a modern camera this has WI-FI for remote control shooting and transfer, but one thing to note here is the inclusion of low energy bluetooth. If you like to transfer your images this is great because this allows the camera to be constantly connected and not burn either of your batteries. The classic look of the Leica D-Lux 7, is complemented with a range of equally stylish and practical accessories such as high-quality cases, carrying straps and a practical handgrip. We found the Standard setting somewhat dull and would recommend either tweaking it by adding some contrast or saturation, or simply going with the vivid photo style instead.
