The Zenbook 14 OLED is Asus' premium thin and light laptop. With me here today is the UX3402ZA, which is the updated 2022 model with an Intel 12th Gen processor. The Zenbook 14 OLED also has a 720p webcam. The image quality isn't very good and the low resolution hurts the image further. Moreover, the webcam doesn't support Windows Hello, so you can only use the fingerprint sensor. ConnectivityThe charging speed of a Power Delivery charger will match the connected adapter’s power output, up to a maximum of 100 watts. USB-C ® Easy Charge provides 4.5-watt charging when connected to a non-Power Delivery charger, including most portable and USB Type-A to USB-C ® chargers. Some portable chargers may not support such features, depending on the configuration. The stated 2.8 mm width of the side bezel is the distance between the edge of the non-active screen display area and the inside edge of the case. If the case width is included, the side bezel width is 5.3 mm. Measured based on standard (anti-glare) display configuration. The top bezel width is 6.3 mm and the bottom bezel width is 10.91 mm. The MyASUS app has options to let you select how much of the battery you want to charge. You can choose from 100%, 80%, or 60%, and the lower the figure the longer the theoretical lifespan of the battery will be. It's a good option, especially for those who don't necessarily use their notebooks outside that much. Conclusion

Also in the top row is the power button, which has a capacitive fingerprint sensor built-in. The fingerprint sensor isn't super fast but does work reliably. In the bottom right corner, Asus has used an inverted T-shaped layout for the arrow keys, which makes them much easier to tell by touch while navigating. At sub-400-nits SDR brightness, though, and in the glossy implementation, this isn’t ideal for bright-light use. W (6-7 h of use) – Netflix fullscreen in Edge, Normal + Better Battery Mode, screen at 60%, Wi-Fi ON; The Zenbook 14 OLED has a 75Wh battery. The laptop comes with a 65W USB-PD charger that claims to charge the battery to 60% in 49 minutes. As for the non-OLED variant of this ZenBook 14, that’s an IPS 2560 x 1600 px matte panel with 400-nits of brightness and 100% sRGB coverage. It’s not as widely available as the OLED model, though.Unless otherwise stated, all performance claims are based on theoretical performance. Actual figures may vary in real-world situations.

Furthermore, the AMD-based ZenBooks are potential alternatives many would be interested in, for the superior performance and efficiency of the AMD hardware, especially in the Ryzen 7 6800U and Ryzen 5 6600U configurations with Radeon graphics. Those are not yet available for the 14-inch 2022 ZenBooks, but can be found in the more compact and lighter 13-inch 2022 ZenBook S 13– our ZenBook S 13 review is available here.

The thermal solution feels a bit inadequate at times considering how hot Intel's 12th Gen chips can get. The 1260P frequently slams against its 100°C thermal limit even with less demanding applications, which eventually causes it to throttle down if the ambient temperature is too high. The single fan with a small heat sink has to work too hard and can often get a bit loud as a result, unless it's in the Whisper mode. Thankfully, the pre-installed and activated Dolby Atmos app comes to the rescue and significantly improves the speaker quality, to the point where they actually sound fairly decent, at least for things like watching YouTube videos. I would still recommend using headphones whenever possible.

I’m happy to see Asus put good effort into their mainstream lineup of thin-and-light ultrabooks and improve the ZenBook 14s with each generation.Functionally, the novelties are the transition towards a 16:10 display and a taller and narrower overall chassis footprint, as well as a complete revamp of the cooling module and the IO. However, this 2022 design is different, with a slightly longer heatpipe now that goes all the way to the radiator that was moved on the left side of the laptop. At the same time, the implemented radiator is smaller than on the previous generations, due to space constraints. Zenbook 14 OLED’s display has a best-in-class color gamut. It reproduces colors with superb real-life accuracy for professional-grade visuals, making it perfect for professional and creative work, or anyone who simply wants to enjoy the very best color fidelity. An OLED display, due to the nature of the special organic light-emitting compounds it uses, reduces harmful blue light by up to 70%7 compared to LCD displays, making it extra gentle on your eyes to reduce the risk of retinal damage. Finally, our sample did well on battery, stabilizing at around 20W of power on the Performance mode, after some variations. Another issue I had with the design was the way the display opened. The divot made in the base is too small to provide enough of a lip to lift the display, and your fingers keep slipping on the edge of the screen as you struggle to pry it apart. Once lifted, the display can be opened with one finger without lifting the base with it.
