Description

Cockburn's Special Reserve Port is a rich and full-bodied fortified wine that is aged for up to five years in oak barrels. It is aged in oak for two to three years using a variety of young wines from various vintages before being made available to the general public. This is achieved by fermenting the grape must for a slightly shorter time to preserve the natural sugars in the fruit, which give the Fine White its flavours of honey and nectar and its slightly richer amber hue. Create a unique gift package with our luxury Dark Mocha Leather Effect presentation box with silk liners. A blend of young wines from the high-altitude vineyards, the Fine White is aged in stainless steel for about 18 months.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Robert Cockburn founded the port house in his name nearly twenty years after establishing his wine business. While we have taken care in preparing this summary and believe it to be accurate, it is not a substitute for reading the product packaging and label prior to use. Gabriel Boudier Crème de Fraise is a fresh and fruity liqueur which brings together the flavour of a range of different varieties of strawberry. With lush berry flavours, hints of pepper and spices, an excellent accompaniment to cheese, nuts or desserts, especially Chocolate based.

The concentrated wines of 1991 are still for keeping, though Ports from the lighter houses are just beginning to emerge. A Port with richness and intense concentration as well as a full body and dry finish with medium length. This wine is aged in oak barrels for longer than normal at the reserve wines, which contributes to the unique identity of this Port. Cockburn’s Vintages have extraordinary length and ‘grip’, a term coined by John Smithes, Cockburn’s brilliant winemaker. On the nose Cockburn’s Fine Ruby show’s fresh and appealing red fruit aromas such as red cherry and raspberry.Cockburn’s can proudly claim to have played a leading role in the resurrection of the Touriga Nacional variety in the 1970’s and 1980’s when it had been virtually abandoned on most Douro vineyards. Cockburn's declared 2015 as a Vintage year, launching a magnificent Port Wine that simultaneously marks the bicentenary of the brand, which was founded in 1815. Just a little heat on the end but this is a very convincing sign that Cockburn is back on form, even if it may not be one of the longest living.

The flavour is rich like vanilla custard and thick and syrupy in texture, with that bite of brandy providing a warm and satisfying kick. This longer wood ageing gives its fruity and full-bodied palate a distinctive dry finish, making Cockburn's Special Reserve the benchmark for all Reserve Ports. A cream that is born from the fusion of the popular liquor with the traditional taste of a custard style cream cake. This sumptuous port has a youthful nose packed with aromas of red cherry and hints of plums and strawberry.
