Description

If you are not familiar with Hey Duggee it’s based around a children’s after school group called The Squirrel Club. Loveable dog Duggee is the leader and provides a safe and fun place for children to explore, learn and earn activity badges. We love to watch the children earn their badges. It’s great fun! Some of the badges you can earn are The Grandparents Badge, The Theatre Badge, The Fashion Badge, The Glasses Badge, and The Singing Badge. Ad-gifted: We received the Musical Duggee Soft Toy in exchange for this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Those messages of fearlessness and tolerance will be embedded in Hey Duggee’s 55-minute live show. If Xia – who was one of Britain’s 2022 Eurovision judges – is known for holding up a mirror to society’s ills with one hand, he is adept at turning his other to full of fun, fantastical theatre. Productions of Into the Woods (at Manchester’s Royal Exchange, 2015) Sleeping Beauty (Stratford East’s 2018 pantomime) and The Wiz demonstrated an ease with the kind of joy and illusion that makes theatre magical. Watch the red, orange, blue and green lights appear under each of Duggee’s 4 badges. The lights flash in time with the music as it plays. Hey Duggee is a huggable loveable dog in the show and this Musical Duggee Soft Toy brings that across. He very soft to the touch – perfect for hugs. A good attention to detail has been taken on the stitching to Duggee’s face and his badges. Stitching on Hey Duggee’s badges Press Duggee’s left hand to hear 3 tunes from the show and watch the colourful lights flash. Then press Duggee’s right hand to activate the iconic theme tune from the show and Duggee’s fun sounds and phrases. For those who haven’t had the pleasure, each of Hey Duggee’s 200-plus, seven-minute episodes sees his playful charges learn something new – honey-collecting, making a mixtape or even diplomacy – each time earning a much-coveted badge for their efforts. Xia’s gateway into the show was his now eight-year-old daughter with whom he’s watched the lot. So, when Kenny Wax, producer of Six: The Musical, approached him last year after acquiring the rights, Xia was all-in.

Returns

Snuggle up with gentle music and soft, glowing lights with the Hey Duggee Sleepy Time Duggee Musical Soft Toy.

By then the crossover to theatre had already happened. At 18, Xia was approached by the Olivier-winning director Ultz to turn Rodgers and Hart’s Broadway classic The Boys from Syracuse into hip-hop musical, Da Boyz, at Stratford East. “We took out the seats and put bouncers on the door,” remembers Xia. “This audience understood clubbing but not theatre. We wanted to speak to them in terms they knew. I’m obsessed with the audience as active spectators,” he says, something that makes Hey Duggee an enthralling prospect for under-sixes and their adults. Both my girls are huge Hey Duggee fans. At 3 years and 18 months, they will both sit down and watch the loveable dog character on TV. In fact, I’ve had a few fights over the Musical Duggee Soft Toy we’ve been sent to review. Musical Duggee Soft Toy Review – From Hey Duggee! Batteries Required: 3 AA batteries (included) which are kept securely in place under a cover which you need a screwdriver to access.

Features soft glowing lights and soothing sounds to help children relax and get a restful nights sleep I’m pretty sure Hey Duggee will provide hours of fun (until the batteries run out!) dancing to the music, listening to sounds and songs and watching the lights. Which is a pretty fun addition to the soft toy. The cutest part is when his ears move up and down to the beat of the music. Hey Duggee Hey Duggee airs daily on CBeebies. The Hey Duggee show promotes fun, exercise, learning, and even more fun! Duggee encourages the children to discover new things around them while being active and working as a team. He teaches them to be responsible and to take acceptable risks. They're based in convenient locations including supermarkets, newsagents and train stations. Plus they're often open late and on Sundays. As with his other works, Hey Duggee speaks to Xia’s own quest, too. “Duggee asks us to imagine a world in which we can behave differently. All my stuff about otherness, accessibility, playfulness, inclusion, politics – big or small P – is all in this work. I don’t know how to make theatre without that.”
