At the highest speed, we could feel air pushed through from 12′ away, but it was more of a slight breeze. We measured mph, and it registered a respectable 8.9 mph, but only at the bottom of the grill. From 2′ away, mph decreased dramatically to 4.2. In all cases, the air flow diminished at the top of the 24″ tall grill, so you’re really only getting air from the lower two-thirds of the grill.

The Seville Classics - ultraslimline does come with a bonus feature than many might not expect, or even really put much thought into. On its lowest settings, the Seville Classics UltraSlimline tower is a quiet fan. You can hear it, but it’s easy to tune out. The noise climbs but is still tolerable on the higher settings. You can talk over the sound of the fan and watch your favorite TV show with it running. The only time we felt we had to turn it off was when we received a phone call. We continue to be impressed with this fan's design after six months of testing and continue to think it's well worth the splurge of you an air purifier and fan combination, with a small footprint. We've used it in a bedroom and found that both the noise and the fan itself it barely noticeable, blending into the space well. While we have found that this fan works well for our use, we have continued to note that this is not the most powerful tower fan that we've tested, and there are more powerful options out there, especially if you are just looking for a basic fan to cool your space on hot days.

During testing, the Honeywell Quiet Set Whole Room Tower Fan stood out for its user-friendly control panel at the top; we found the easy-to-understand symbols made the display easy to use. We also appreciated the quiet operation. During testing, all five speeds—power cool, refresh, white noise, calm, and sleep—were quiet enough to function as white noise, if noticeable at all. On the lowest setting, sleep mode, we only heard a very low hum. The highest-setting sound was more noticeable but we did not find it to be disturbingly loud. The compact size of these popular fans makes it easy to place them anywhere in your home without taking up valuable physical space. We think the above metrics are by far the most important things when considering a tower fan, but they aren’t the only ones. Many of the tower fans have other characteristics that might be attractive to you. We tested the Seville Classics UltraSlimline at home and appreciated its space-saving design and helpful features. This tower fan has four settings, including an energy-saving Eco setting. We found that the lowest setting provided a gentle breeze of air and minimal noise while the higher setting created a powerful airflow that cooled even our hottest room, while not being too noisy. It circulated the ambient air and pushed cold air from ourair conditioner around the space thanks to the 75-degree oscillation. And for added convenience, you can customize all these settings on the fan or by using the included remote control.

If you do stand up though, Seville Classics' fans have a control panel with a small plastic cover. This is a great aesthetic choice, as you can hide all the buttons and fan speed settings neatly. We found it was easy to move this lightweight (8 pounds) fan. We also appreciate that it automatically shuts off if it's tipped over (which can be especially useful if you have dogs or kids running around). Other handy features include a magnetic remote control, bladeless design, an easy-to-change filter, and a sleep timer. It's worth noting that this fan was not as powerful as others we tested in the lab, and we felt the same way while testing at home. However, all of the other features, quiet operation, and beautiful, compact design still make it a splurge-worthy option. The fan has a myriad of settings to control the fan's output. Not only are there four settings for speed, but there are three different wind modes that vary the cooling power of the fan. There is a sleeping wind mode that starts at high wind speed and then gradually decreases every 30 minutes and a natural wind mode that changes speed randomly. The normal wind mode allows you to choose one set speed using the speed dial. We hardly used these alternative modes because they weren't very pleasant. The changes in speed were abrupt and not at all like a natural wind. We typically kept the fan on normal mode and changed the speed as needed with the remote. Powerful Meets Portable: Dreo's all-in-one airflow system combines with a supercharged electric motor, delivering high-speed, brisk cool. This 36-inch compact tower fan enlivens every inch of air in your living space fast at up to 7.3m/s. It has a great remote control, an automatic mode that adjusts to the surrounding temperature, and a built-in handle for easy lifting. The Dyson AM07 oscillates up to 80 degrees, giving you wide coverage. While other oscillating fans do have a higher range, the design of this tower fan offers more coverage with less movement. The bladeless design makes it incredibly safe, which is ideal if you have children or curious pets that are likely to touch the fan.

The Seville Classic UltraSlimline has a lot of power, and more features than most tower fans in its price point – like a wide oscillation range of 95 degrees, which helps it circulate air efficiently. You can also conserve energy with timer settings that can shut off the unit automatically at intervals between 30 minutes and 7.5 hours. Natural wind mode, combined with the wide degrees of oscillation and the waist height cooling power of this solid unit, more accurately emulates a natural breeze. If you need a fan for an office or another smaller area, the Lasko Oscillating Tower Fan is a great option, with a wood-paneled look to help it blend into any room. We noticed during lab testing that the fan feels powerful up to 10 feet away, although it’s hard to notice an airflow at around 20 feet—but this shouldn’t be an issue in small to medium-sized rooms. Plus, it's also a good choice to use while sleeping. Relatively quiet at its highest setting, it has a 7.5-hour timer and sleep mode that dims the LED display while gradually reducing the fan’s speed. We would say yes, although it is far from being a perfect model of tower fan. However, it is certainly better than your average brand. The other attribute that matters is total wind distribution — that is, not just how much powerful air is blown in one area, but how much air circulation is being distributed in total across the height and width of the fan. Eco mode also has the best performance in noise levels, and the least audible noise. While white noise is still produced, it has the lowest noise levels on offer. Far and Vast: 90° oscillation and calibrated airflow path allow this oscillating fan to cover more areas in the room. Combine with your cooling air conditioner to cut cooling costs during hot days. Next, we measured noise levels on their highest speed settings. After testing the best portable air conditioners, we were cautious of the impact noise can have on comfort.
