This is a constant theme in the hard times book. Stefan talks about how every 80 years there’s a dynamic cycle that occurs and has been seen to occur throughout history. The entire book is based off a poem:

At one point the author compares men to bees. Bees! Bees work hard so men should work hard. Having no biological relationship to one another I fail to see how this has any pertinence to masculine endeavors. This ‘strong men’ statement was harped on numerous times throughout the book, and each time with a different angle of research, complimented by historical examples. This content was confronting but relevant, and was key for the necessary mindset and behaviour change. Link to Book– Link to Video So what’s the difference G? Well, the difference is that nice and kind aren’t the same things. They don’t mean the same thing. Some men are nice, or they perform nice acts for the public, but inside are weak, corrupt and needy. There’s a reason why that phrase, “Nice guys finish last” rings true. The truth is no one wants to follow the nice guy. Women may think that guy is nice, maybe they’ll date him, but at the end of the day, they wanna end up with the kind guy. Why? Because the nice guy only acts nice to put on a show. The man who is kind and generous does so from a position of power. He chooses to be kind and generous, but do not mistake his kindness for weakness. For that same man can become a beast if necessary. Good men are dangerous men.

More interesting stuff

Ideally, if this book shaped and motivated men to be strong men, with a purpose and disciplined work focus. With distractions such as porn mitigated, and a relationship with a woman prioritised and established. This then provides a foundation towards building a family, and would be an outstanding legacy for the author. I enjoyed reading this book about how there is a cyclic nature of man and how the world changes with each generation. The cycle that good times create weak men, weak men create hard times, hard times create strong men, and the strong men create good times. The book goes on to explain multiple times that this has happened. This book also dives deep into money, sex, religion, and politics. The author covers such vast topics to encompass this reclaiming of man hood, and numerous themes broke down to their components.

But if you can look at things objectively and you’re committed to becoming a better man, not only for your family, but just for yourself, then read this book. You may not agree with everything Stefan says and that’s ok. Remember, it’s the sharing of ideas that allows for great conversations that foster growth to occur. # 1 - A Man’s Purpose Is His Work I am sad to say that we live in a time of weak men and we will plunge into a very dark, very hard time ahead of us. As Aarnio notes, many men grow frustrated by women’s illogical behavior—like when they ask their men to prioritize them but lose attraction when they do. But this is simply a feature of feminine energy; feminine women live moment-to-moment and are easily swayed by their feelings, unlike more rational, logical men. So don’t try to ignore her volatility or make her less volatile; if you do, you’ll push her toward masculinity, lose your attraction to her, and end the relationship.
