The Honor Pad 8 is a gigantic slab of metal and glass. Its unibody construction isn’t out of the ordinary, but the clean-cut edges, brushed aluminium rear and rounded corners do look rather swish. Weighing only 520g, it’s not too heavy, and an added bonus is that it’s also thinner than the 2021 iPad at just 6.9mm. This feature is only available for HONOR Smartphones running Magic UI 3.0 and above version. If you have any Still, at least the Honor Pad 8 isn’t hamstrung with a restricted version of Android like Huawei’s mobile offerings. All the Google apps are there, and the entire Play Store library is at your fingertips. There weren’t any bloatware apps pre-installed on my review device, either, which is always a big bonus. A big screen on a budget

Again, for some people, performance isn’t important, but it did make the user experience a little frustrating at times.

There’s a Snapdragon 680 chipset here, which is admittedly low-end, but it hasn’t felt as slow on other (mainly smartphone) gadgets we’ve used it on. It’s paired with 4GB RAM, which in and of itself isn’t a red flag, but they don’t work well here. There are a few apps that come pre-installed whether you like them or not, including the likes of Facebook and Booking.com, but there aren’t so many as to get in your way. What I did feel was that there was a general scaling problem, with elements from certain apps just seeming a bit too enlarged for the display; this is just an aesthetic complaint rather than anything more serious though.
