Just before we get into the detail of analysing the price of this product, we want to briefly highlight the importance of setting yourself a budget before you spend too much time shopping around for a suitable product. It’s all too often that we get carried away when shopping and find ourselves buying a fantastic product, but probably actually overdelivers on what we need and therefore costs a lot more than we should have spent. So spend a bit of time looking around at the sort of price you can expect to pay for products in the Playsets and figures category and use that alongside your own financial situation to set yourself a budget. Andy added: “We initially thought it was just a case of weak eye muscle which was affecting Pixie’s eye; never for one second did we think it could be a brain tumour.

Price is another really important factor for analysing the quality of Pixie Belles vs other products in the Playsets and figures category. It’s obvious, but you will need to set your expectations of quality based on your budget and the price of the product you’re looking at, against the price of alternatives. The brand of product you buy can vary in importance, from person to person. Some people will of course be much more particular about the brands they will use. Whilst others aren’t interested in the brand and are more interested in the overall quality or price of the product itself. Thankfully Pixie Belles is a brand that many customers have grown to love over the years and is very popular for items in the Playsets and figures category. Devastatingly, the MRI scan uncovered a brain tumour behind Pixie-Belle’s eye and the following week Pixie underwent a biopsy, which thankfully revealed that the tumour was non-malignant. Young Pixie-Belle is currently on week 12 of an 84 week course of chemotherapy to shrink the tumour. We’ve got a long road ahead of us with Pixie-Belle’s treatment, but getting involved in the charity has given me something to focus on.” The tumour is located behind her right eye and is pressing on her optic nerve which has already caused partial loss of sight in that eye. Pixie’s consultant wanted to preserve her vision as a priority and we were advised that the best course of treatment would be chemotherapy which started in July." In December 2018, after 21 weeks of chemotherapy, she had an adverse reaction to the drugs, and had to start all over again from week one, with different medication. It meant that PixieBelle, from Ashton-under-Lyne, had to endure a total of 111 sessions of treatment at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Devastatingly, the MRI scan uncovered a brain tumour behind her right eye and the following week Pixie underwent a biopsy, which thankfully revealed that the tumour was non-malignant.

Now aged nine, the youngster is just one of 60 people worldwide benefiting from the treatment, which unlike chemotherapy, is taken in tablet form. Mum Katie says: “There are far fewer side effects, and PixieBelle is able to pretty much carry on life on as normal. She loves to dance and perform and everything she has had to go through she has just embraced and pushed through.More information on quality can be found in this old but still very helpful article from Harvard Business Review. Finally, in October 2021, PixieBelle was able to ring the final bell, indicating that she had reached the end of treatment. Sadly, just three months later a scan showed signs that the tumour had regrown. Andy explains: “It was unexpected and we were stunned but it was something we had been warned by doctors could happen. However, we were delighted to get PixieBelle onto an experimental new medical trial pretty much straight away to target the tumour directly.” The first is brand. Looking at the brand of the product is often a really good indicator for judging product quality. For example you’d expect a much higher quality product from a brand known for providing excellent quality than you would from an unknown or even a budget brand. Next up is material. Read through the product description for Pixie Belles to get an understanding of the materials the product is made from. Some materials will obviously be known for delivering better quality item than others. You might also have decided that you’ll only accept a product made from a particular material.

But specialists say by building a new intra-operative MRI (iMRI) scanning suite, it would mean surgeons can scan a child and get real-time view of the brain while they’re still on the operating table. I tend not to believe in fate but it feels like fate now that we are under their care following Pixie-Belle’s diagnosis. The Charity’s latest Appeal is to help children like Pixie-Belle who have been diagnosed with brain tumours, so that’s what I’m passionate about fundraising for. Everyone at the hospital has been amazing and I can’t thank them enough for their care and expertise.” The next step after looking at products in the same category, was to look at products from the same brand, Pixie Belles.Pixie-Belle’s parents, Andy and Katie, took their daughter for an eye test in February this year after noticing that her right eye was looking slightly to one side. After trialling an eye-patch to no success, Pixie-Belle was referred to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for an emergency eye appointment and MRI scan. The next step for us was to look at all of the products that fall within the Playsets and figures category, of which we found 926 products at Argos. So we pulled together all of the prices of these products to analyse the average prices as well as finding the cheapest and most expensive options. Viv Williamson, Events Manager at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity commented: “We can’t thank Andy enough for everything he is doing to support our charity, especially at such a challenging time for his family. He’s already raised an incredible amount from the half marathon which will make a valuable contribution towards our iMRI Scanner Appeal. We wish Pixie-Belle all the best with her recovery and look forward to seeing Andy at the half marathon, and cheering him along on the day!” Of the 926 products, we discovered that 832 were more expensive and 89 were cheaper than Pixie Belles. Prices from Pixie Belles PixieBelle, nine, has endured four brain operations, lost her hair three times, and has also lost sight in one of her eyes after gruelling chemotherapy treatment.
