Description

Character: The stone guardians. They can be a bit scary given that they’re lions, but we love how charming they are in the game’s final design. We think the fact that they serve as gatekeepers in Japanese culture made it interesting to have them serve as guides in the game. Go behind-the-scenes of today’s interactive Doodle, made in partnership with Tokyo-based animation studio, STUDIO 4°C! Once your gnome lands to rest in your garden, we wanted to give players a fun, visual reward to highlight the humor found in many traditional gnome statues. Gerben explored different ideas to have each gnome transform into a unique and funny pose. We have developed many versions of the Wordle Game for different languages and dictionaries. Now you can play in American English, UK English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Swedish, Irish, Czech, Greek, Turkish, Indonesian, and Filipino.

Involving Friendly Competition: Whenever you feel like challenging yourself, involve friendly competition. Ease into more rigorous gameplay one step at a time; that way everyone can have fun! Ask your opponent to explain their moves so that you and they both come away with a better understanding of the game. The cutscene animations and characters for Doodle Champion Island Games were created by Tokyo, Japan-based animation studio, STUDIO4°C. Below they share their thoughts behind the making of this Doodle:

Where this Doodle appeared

The Doodle Team explored many different ideas, concepts, and creative directions for celebrating the history and culture of the garden gnome.

The Crossword Puzzle is for the elite word-puzzlers out there. The famous brain-teaser needs no introduction. You have a series of hints for words going down and across and have to solve, matching up letters and making your best guesses (and often looking up some trivia you have no clue about). To help set context, the team designed a brief history lesson on how German garden gnomes were originally made. You can seethis introductory animation below: At the beginning of the game, try to use a word without repeating letters and with as many vowels as possible, such as the word "RADIO". However, mathematician Grant Sanderson found that the best starting word is “CRANE" or “SLOTH”, which includes frequently used letters. In today’s interactive Doodle, you’ll learn a bit more about how the humble gnome is made. Then, you’ll enlist a group of gnomes to help you decorate a garden of your own! Google Doodle games have become a delightful source of entertainment, enchanting users with their playful nature and captivating gameplay. Over the years, Google has introduced numerous popular Doodles that have captured the hearts and imaginations of players worldwide. Let's embark on a journey through some of the most beloved and memorable Google Doodle games that have brought joy and excitement to millions.

Latest Doodles from around the world

One of the earliest and most iconic Google Doodle games, Pac-Man paid homage to the classic arcade game that took the gaming world by storm. Google's version of Pac-Man was a faithful recreation of the original, allowing players to guide the iconic character through the maze, gobbling up pellets and evading ghosts. This Doodle captured the nostalgia of an entire generation and introduced younger players to the timeless appeal of this beloved game. Here’s how the game works: Use your trusty catapult (or trebuchet to be precise) to launch your clay gnomes into the farthest reaches of your garden. The farther your gnome travels, the more flowers you plant—and the more points you earn!Once you learn the basics, you can choose from six colorful gnomes with different shapes, weights, and bounciness. Try each one to see which gnome goes the greatest distance towards making your garden the most beautiful of all. Another major benefit of playing Oodles Board is problem-solving skills development. Players are presented with different scenarios during the game that require them to think outside of the box. This helps them to build their problem solving abilities as they figure out creative ways to navigate through the game objectives.

Gnome figures first appeared in 13th-century Anatolia and re-emerged in 16th-century Italy. The common garden gnome originated in 19th-century Germany from the mining area of Thuringia. Here, local craftsmen are given credit for hand-crafting the gnomes as we know them—with shaggy beards and pointy hats. You can make the game harder by turning on "Hard Mode" in the settings. Then any revealed hints must be used in subsequent guesses. For the visual design of the game, lead artist Gerben Steenks found inspiration in Germany’s rich traditions in wood carving, village architecture, and folk history. He was also able to draw from a wide variety of flowers, trees, and other plant life that are unique or commonly found in German gardens. Mark Ivey, Eric Arnold , Daniel Dovali, David Lu, Audrey LoVan, Conner Lane, Jacob Katzeff, Jacob Howcroft, Kathy Lee, Stephanie Gu, Leah Sandacz, Jonathan Shneier Gerben also spent considerable time exploring different designs for the gnome statues featured in the game, including a variety of different hairstyles, mustaches, beards, and clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

The main goal of the game is to guess the hidden word in 6 tries. In each line, you need to enter any word from 4 to 11 letters to find out what letters are in the target word. Depending on which word you entered, the letters will be highlighted in three colors. We're pleased that we were able to allude to various stories from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south in the Doodle. Besides drawing inspiration from stories known across Japan, we also hoped to convey the rich and diverse natural beauty of the country, including underwater, sandy tropical beaches, forests, and snowy mountains. La Palabra is the Spanish language version of Wordle. It translates to “the word” and plays just like Wordle but with Spanish words instead of English words. A fun challenge for anyone learning to speak Spanish.
