They’re portable, affordable and reusable, so I can’t really see any good reason not to own one if you love the outdoors (Image credit: Helin Loik-Tomson) How to use a Shewee Wearers feel “they are so useful!!” for outdoor situations like a music festival, camping, hiking, and more! Due to its open design, the pStyle allows you to get the angle just right in a confined space, making it the most agile of the bunch. It’s made with rigid plastic, but it’s narrow and a little shallower than the others, meaning it can slide more easily through a harness and under jeans (pants with zippers make things easier; high-waisted leggings make it much harder). It’s less of a funnel and more like a baby luge. Due to it being long and short (in terms of height), the pStyle doesn’t need a lot of space to operate. While the upper opening seals against your body, the “spout” portion is not enclosed, which means there’s splash potential if you’re not careful. I was a little nervous that the opening would be too shallow, but it sealed well and worked as advertised even with jeans and a harness. After a couple uses, you’ll get the angle down—start by pressing the pStyle firmly against yourself, lean a little forward, and let gravity do the rest.

However, if you want to opt for the eco-friendly approach, then you’ll need something like the She-Wee. You’ll want to combine it with a dedicated, wide-mouthed water bottle like a Nalgene. Clean it however you'd clean your vagina at a festival - pour water on it, use wet-wipes or soap... Pros

The temptation is to press the Shewee against you, hoping there are no spills. This doesn’t work well, and this is when accidents happen. Don’t create a vacuum. My go-to way to pee when I’m outside is to find a place to pop a squat. Usually behind a leafy tree. Second to a nice, clean restroom, I imagine that’s probably most people’s preference. The Gogirl female urination device is a pee funnel that allows you to secure the device to meet your needs. Doctor designed with a patented splash guard that keeps you free of messes or spills, it’s made from medical grade silicone, and stores discreetly in your bag. The Shewee is the female urination device for you? We LOVE it. It’s a top-quality device at a very reasonable price. It also works better than much of their competition, which will leave you without pee all over your legs or shoes. However, if you’re a passenger in a moving car, then it is indeed possible to pee while someone is driving. You’ll just have to use a female urination aid. You have two options: a disposable one with an attached bag, or a reusable one with wide-mouthed water bottle.

If you’re using a Shewee (and not a similar product made by another company) you’ll have to fit the hose into the funnel when you have to go. All you need to do to use your Shewee is unzip your pants, move your underwear to the side and nestle the Shewee against your pelvis – the top part sits against your public bone while the extended part slides underneath to catch any drips. Make sure you’re holding it securely before you start to go, and also pay attention to where the spout is pointing so you’re not accidentally peeing on a wasp’s nest. 5. Clean it These are usually a durable paper or cardboard, occasionally flushable, and intended for temporary use. They are more convenient to carry around in your car or purse, and, like the ubiquitous to-go coffee cup, easy to use and recycle. If you’re on the fence about getting your first FUD, you might want to try a disposable one first. We tried out one to give you an idea of how they work. Non-Disposable FUDs Convenience/comfort: How easy the FUD is to use and how compatible it is with outdoor clothing and gear. It’s not pleasant to pee outside when it’s blizzarding, and no one wants to leave a warm tent on a cold night to go squat in a snowdrift. Or maybe there’s poison ivy all over the ground, or you’re on steep terrain. Whatever the reason, it’s pretty liberating to be able to drink as much water as you want without having to take into consideration your future pee opportunities. People in jobs who wear a ton of gear that they don’t want to take off to go pee (riot police, military personnel, etc.)

Position yourself correctly: Once inside the car, sit comfortably in the driver’s or passenger’s seat. Adjust your position so that you have enough space to maneuver the Shewee.

Because, despite gender equality in other areas, I’ve always felt jealous of the fact men could pretty much pee wherever they wanted, whenever they wanted (I mean, within reason.)

Using a Shewee does not pose any significant health risks. However, it’s important to maintain proper hygiene and clean the device after each use. Many of our readers have concerns about stains and splashes when using an FUD. This compact and foldable Tinkle Belle is popular due to its longer spout, which allows you to pee further away from your body, preventing accidents. Let’s get into the details about how to use the Shewee so you don’t get pee all over your pants, legs or shoes!
