Olympus lenses usually give very solid color rendition, and the this lens is no exception. However, the results are best with the JPEGs that their cameras put out. The lens delivers a fair amount of contrast, though nowhere as much as Sigma or Zeiss do. In Adobe Lightroom, we liked what we got when we applied Alien Skin’s Kodak Ektachrome color profiles to the images. Am i missing something? Please let me know because i'm looking to buy this lens in the near future. We find the E-M5 III to be a fantastic companion for travel and general photography, producing excellent images under a wide range of scenarios. The bad news is that the lens hood is an optional extra, but the good news is that many Olympus SLR owners will already have it. The 14-150mm shares the LH-61C hood with the ZD 14-42mm Four Thirds kit lens.

Now, if you want great IQ and state of the art stabilization, then just go straight for the Oly 12-100 Pro and all you GAS will fade away. All the hype is real and it took me two years to realize it. Ideal for a larger body like a EM1 or EM1x. The 12-100 and PL 8-18 is my two lens do everything I want set. (I also own both the Oly 40-150, Pro and slow, zooms) I went hiking and camping all last week and that was all I used, four of the nights it got down to freezing or below, plus rainy conditions, no worries with these pro lens. Flare however does exist, though it is much less intrusive than on other Micro Four Thirds lenses. This is because Olympus has improved the coating of the optics. If you take a photo straight into the sun, you may also see a small rainbow flare along with a purple glow. E-M1, 1/200, f/ 22, ISO 200 Distortion I think the general consensus is that the Olympus is slightly better, but both are quite good. If you have the Panasonic then just enjoy it and be happy. The M Zuiko Digital 14-150mm F4-5.6 is Olympus's fourth lens for its Pen series cameras, and the first to venture into the telephoto region. Examining the MTF readings from our Applied Imaging tests, we see that the lens gives sharp results in the centre of the frame at 14mm, although the corners are weak. Zoom in to 50mm and sharpness is still very acceptable, becoming more even across the frame. However, at 150mm, images are noticeably softer. Best results are generally obtained at f/5.6-8. Shading The scale on the left side is an indication of actual image resolution. The taller the column, the better the lens performance. Simple. Olympus FT useres have always dreamt of such a Holiday-Lens with good performance, now its real - but not for FT - too bad! If there was an issue with any format it likely stems from attempting to bench mark the cameras against each other. Some times the differences between cameras are so marginal that the differences really don't matter in real world shooting situations, or at least in +90% of shooting situations. However this is often what is called best and its rare that actual output is compared to try and assess whether the numbers are the whole story. With the lens set to its maximum aperture, you can see some pretty heavy light fall-off in the corners, especially at the 150mm end of the zoom range.Olympus OMD EM1: The company’s flagship camera should really be paired with glass from the higher spectrum, but if you want an all purpose lens, then this one is a great option.
