He has made it real again, though he does change the location, he does not change the way humanity reacts to the taking of innocent lives. I had a lot of proplems with the majority of the book but one or two passages about grief I did recognise.

It's lyrical and magical, with gorgeous word choices but without losing focus, as flowery prose can do if used by the wrong hands. I was so gripped by the voice of your heroine and the tale she told, I would spend much of each day following an evening’s read just bringing it all back to life in my head and trying to really feel the tragedy, horror, and sadness of the situation. She chooses NOT to destroy another human being—this requires strength and wholeness on the part of any person, especially one who struggles with as much as she. It brings a tear to my eye to think about it, even sat at my desk at work, and I actually don’t think a book has affected me as much in a long long time.

I read your book in march and now I’m reading it again; I loved the story, everything was so catchy and I couldn’t stop reading at night. It didn't matter that the words were barely audible; it didn't matter that the dragon had no language to understand them. She grapples not only with her own short comings, but those of the country in which she lives complicated by those imposed on her society by a foreign country and still she chooses life. She relates, to Osama, all of the events and all of her feelings from immediately before the atrocity to many months afterwards.

I’m still interested in reading the second book in this duology, but I reckon my expectations for it will probably be lower than they were for this one. We also have characters who can create illusions, who can read people’s minds and who can manipulate people’s emotions. Córdova builds up action in subtle moments in the background, but her focus is always on our complex and intriguing heroine, who I am excited to see grow even more in the sequel. Take that personal journey away and it would be like trying build our identity, our very selves, out of rumour and dreams. It went well I think although I did chat on for about 45 minutes with not much structure other than my few notes. Can the Bin Ladens of the world ever be more than the most despised people by those whose lives they have taken away? Personally, I thought that the title ON THE OTHER HAND worked better as you were always asking yourself – although this character did thid, on the other hand he/she also did that. I used to believe that engaging in the creation of beauty (which is the only currency that I truly understand) had enough power to combat cruelty and ugliness, at least on some subtle level . Incendiary is a ticking time bomb of a book that hones in on its endlessly interesting protagonist before unveiling a barrage of excellent plot twists and an ending that left me craving more.

I hoped against hope that she would not be devoured by their dysfunction, but that wasn’t the story you wanted to tell.In the Kingdom of Moira, people with magic are hunted down especially people with dangerous abilities like Ren. An epic and spellbinding fantasy, Incendiary is a darkly rich tapestry of twisted magic, deadly consequences, and riveting stakes. For fans who enjoyed the ferocity of Ember in the Ashes, INCENDIARY explores the double-edged sword of memory and the triumph of hope and love in the midst of fear and oppression. It's an idea, a feeling, communicated in the book's opener, set up like you’re starting in the middle of something. We see her struggle through all the stolen memories she holds inside, memories which can force their way into her mind and are impossible to predict.

It has so many twists and turns too, I really had no idea what was going to happen next and I was very worried for the characters throughout! I)f one is going to sneer at over-the-top displays of patriotism or hero-worship, one had better avoid over-the-top displays altogether. It is only the narrator's voice that pulls the reader through this improbable and tiresomely knowing novel in a hurry. As a memory thief, the rarest and most feared of the magical Moria, she was used to carry out the King's Wrath, a siege that resulted in the deaths of thousands of her own people. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.
