Hyllyard City is too far from Karrde’s base for anyone there to directly witness our attack; hence, any sudden flurries of activity in the city will imply the existence of a more subtle line of communication. Swan thought the book "feels tentative and inclusive; there doesn't seem to be enough material to justify a 144-page book. I also love how this book tackled Luke's concerns about training and teaching hours sister's children once they were born and how he was already on to the Dark Jedi as well. One good thing is to appreciate, even since the first book, how Timothy Zahn wasn’t only telling the story at hand but also planning a bigger scale of narrative, including names, places, events, etc.

Leia made good on her promise from the previous story and travelled to the homeworld of the Noghri, the powerful race that Darth Vader had subjugated, and manages to convince them to turn against the Empire remnants using her title as “Lady Vader” to her advantage. It’s all rather moot however as Grand Admiral Thrawn arrives with a couple of Star Destroyers and a large space fight breaks out. People hype her up as this amazing and complex character, but in Heir to the Empire she seemed rather one dimensional to me. Strategic Battles: The novel features several gripping space battles and ground skirmishes, showcasing Timothy Zahn's skill in crafting thrilling action sequences.

To his character repertoire, Zahn adds Garm Bel Iblis, a former Senator from Corellia--and rival to Mon Mothma. Dark Force Rising follows the structure of the original Star Wars trilogy, as the resurgent Empire forces led by Admiral Thrawn go on the offensive, the Alliance heroes go each on his / her own quest, and in general things get complicated in a way that will set up a big confrontation in the last book of the series.

Meanwhile, Han Solo and Lando Calrissian race against time to find proof of treason inside the highest Republic Council-only to discover instead a ghostly fleet of warships that could bring doom to their friends and victory to their enemies. I think she has even better books later on, but this book was excellent for her character development). Apart from that I enjoyed the novel, though I have to admit the story is weaker and those who've read Heir to the Empire and about to jump into this, might be disappointed on how slow it can be.Baron has won two Eisners and an Inkpot for his work on Nexus, now being published in five languages including French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. This might be because the end of this relationship is something I already know the outcome of and therefore I’m projecting that knowledge onto what I’m reading, but it’s fun all the same. Overall I found Luke training under Cbaoth a pretty clever twist on the relationship between Luke and Yoda.

Second part of the New Republic trilogy (commonly known as the Thrawn trilogy for obvious reasons), which begins right at the end of the previous novel Heir to the Empire, and follows the events from there.

What I am most impressed by is that this doesn’t feel like a sequel, it feels like act two of the first book; like a continuation. Lo de Han y Lando también es interesante, además de ser con ellos con los que aprendemos sobre La Fuerza Oscura, una flota de 200 cruceros acorazados manejables con muy poco personal y que decantaría el lado de cualquiera que lo tuviera. New Faces and Factions: "Dark Force Rising" introduces a host of new characters, including the enigmatic Mara Jade, who adds an intriguing layer to the story.

Multiple threads of the plot work together to bring five disparate groups to the remains of the Katana fleet at the same time to finish off the book with a giant space battle.

I’ve read reviews on the first and third book in this series that say there isn’t that stuff in it but I’m having a hard time finding out about book 2. No me extraña que en parte no disfrute de la escritura de Zahn por culpa de la traducción que es horrible. Every time I encounter Thrawn in the Star Wars universe, I’m impressed with how excellent of a villain he is.
