Description

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It’s difficult for Flight of the Eisenstein to have room to tell its own story, as it does crossover a little too much with the previous novels imo - but this is to be expected. But when the fleeing Eisenstein is damaged by enemy fire, it becomes stranded in the warp — the realm of the Dark Powers. Garro was a stead fast character, and I really took a liking to him pretty immediately, and I really enjoyed his group of battle-brothers. This said I definitely enjoyed the book, devouring it almost entirely in one train journey, and I'm looking forward to the next few installments in the series.

In the Warp the ship's Geller engines fail, allowing a horde of undead rotting Plague Marines aboard. The only reason it did not achieve more was because the novel did not contain more Legions and was slightly shorter than I would have liked. Garro loses a lot in the Flight of the Eisenstein: his closest peer; his aforementioned assistant; and one of his legs.

Overall I enjoyed this book a great deal, from the character interactions to the descriptions of the action, and it left me really wanting to read more of Swallow's Garro.Flight of the Eisenstein actually backs the story up to tell us the story of Death Guard Captain Nathaniel Garro and his men, who, shocked by the treason of their Primarch Mortarian and their fellows, steal a small ship and make flight to warn the Emperor.
