About this deal

During the lockdown, we’re working hard to publish an episode every day featuring someone interesting from Northern Ireland.

If it was the bottom, I'd probably be in a wheelchair but as it is, it's affecting my left hand side, including my left shoulder. We have been before for the usual panto outing to the GOH but I have to say that this year surpassed all previous performances. Playing her 33rd Grand Opera House panto, May, aka John Linehan, didn’t disappoint in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Paddy Jenkins, as Mr Potts, Georgia Lennon, as Belle, Ben Richards, who will play the role of the Beast and May McFettridge, as Mrs Potts Picture Matt Mackey / Press Eye.

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight’s the night for Falke to get his revenge at the most glamorous party of the season where there’ll be champagne. In 2006, John was award an MBE for his charitable services and in 2014 he was awarded a bronze bust of May McFettridge outside The Grand Opera House to honour his many years of bringing smiles to adults and children alike. In the early 1980s, Linehan was diagnosed as having syringomyelia and he had neurosurgery in 1983 following which he had meningitis. Regardless of the feelings of her two daughters Audrey and Gemma, she enlists the help of Mr Proudfoot, a part time medium from Ahoghill.

Appearing in his trademark outfit of cut-off evening trousers, dinner jacket, hat and Wellington boots marked ‘L’ and ‘R’ for left and right, but worn on the wrong feet, his routine was a fast-moving, gag-a-minute, focusing on his unique interpretation of Irish logic. You can get drinks or food pre show but I would recommend going elsewhere in the city before attending. In 2013 John had a knee replacement at Kingsbridge Private Hospital, Belfast after years of crippling pain.In the last couple of years I've had surgery, including rotator cuff surgery, and that kept me at arm's length from the golf, so the last couple of years hasn't been great for golf. This year’s show will be spectacularly brought to life from page to stage by a talented cast and creative team and features the Grand Opera House pantomime hallmark of an abundance of comedy, sensational songs and dance numbers, fabulous costumes, stunning scenery, and special effects. William Caulfield, who has cruised the world with his stand-up show, will regale the audience with stories of everyday life from home and abroad in his hilarious homegrown style.
