About this deal

This similarity in power seems about right to me. When I compared the AD600 Pro to the AD600BM a few months, I did see about a 1/2 to 2/3 of a stop increase on the AD600 Pro when using the same modifiers. And the AD400 Pro is about 1/2 to 2/3 of a stop less powerful than the AD600 Pro. Pros Both are 4800K which is equivalent to outside daylight. The strength of the modelling lamp really helps with focusing in low light situations and seeing what the light will do without having to do test shots. Connectivity I understand that 50 might be a reasonable ballpark for light use, but as you say for a fashion or action photographer that limit might not work. I know some of the more famous fashion photographers are shooting like a wild kid with new motordrive on camera, for a reason. This comes in handy when traveling so that the flash can’t be accidentally turned on and drain the battery.

well, there are modeling lights and there are modeling lights. In general to use one the way you are thinking, as a learning tool, you want a powerful one. Make sure you're using the correct cable and port for firmware updating the device. This is not as easy as it sounds for the AD Witstro lights, which often come equipped with two different types of USB ports. Once reassembled you’ll have a strobe that can take the weight of your biggest modifier, and the handle will still have more room to tighten without the fear of snapping it off and ruining your photoshoot!

FluidKnowledge on dpreview mentions that you may also need to disable driver signing in Windows 10 to get the G1 updater and driver to work properly, as it's not signed (being written for Windows 7).

As you explain it is how I understood what Lee was saying. And that is exactly what lead to my point about Profoto adapters. I've had in my studio for at least 15 years, several adapters that will adapt Elinchrom, Bowens or Bron to Profoto heads. These are all commercially available adapters and have been available for quite some time. When it comes down to speedlight the limit is much lower, so I think its an issue. I might be of bad judgment thinking that 50 images are a restrain on my creativity? The Flash is able to emit long bursts of precisely controlled light in both Color Mode and High-Speed Sync. When set at the maximum power, the AD400 Pro TTL is ready to be triggered again after just 1s! Atlas Pro can also be used to freeze the motion of fast-moving objects. It allows you to capture liquid splashes, running children or martial arts masters during training. The flash can go down to 1/ 12340s (at 1/256, t0.1) which is more than you need in most cases. The new flashtube design provides the best light quality and allows to use the full potential of every light modifier. The tube is protected by a glass dome, equipped with a frosted front surface for even light distribution. Moreover, the flasthube can be changed easily and no additional tools are required to do so. Obviously, the B10 can only accept Profoto modifiers, which happen to be some of the most expensive in the industry. Battery Power

Conclusion

What we found from our tests is that the AD400 gave us about 1/3rd a stop more power than the B10 with a shutter of 1/4000. We also noticed that the older Profoto B1 actually gave a full stop more power than the B10 in HSS mode and about .6 stops more power than the AD400. Another strange result we experienced was that when we stopped the AD400 down a few stops in power, our light meter continued to give us lower and lower readings, while it was not able to give us any readings on the B10 below full power (hence the "under" value). If the Godox values are accurate, it also means that for every stop you lower the AD400 flash, you actually only lose 1/2 stop of light, which seems a bit strange. It is your responsibility to request a return. If you don’t tell us you want to make a return, we don’t know. Once you do tell us, we will do everything we can to action it. Of course, using it just in "battery mode" might possibly limit it a bit since the modeling light surely uses some power... Within many industries, the premium for lighter and more compact attributes can be extremely high, and the Godox pro level series of strobes is incredibly reasonable, and is simply not charging what the photographic industry has commonly become accustomed to. It’s a robust system that works with the most common modifier mounts available for an absolutely reasonable cost, all while offering features that enable faster and more accurate creation. I would surmise that the AD400 Pro will become a hit as it works into the kits of hobbyists and professionals alike that are looking to save some cost and weight while affording the benefits of a strobe that is equal to some of the best lighting companies in the world. Surprisingly, both remotes have an incredible range that became unreliable at the exact same distance. From our tests, both units worked at an insane distance of about 500 feet. We could never get other radio triggers to fire reliably even half of this distance so this is a dream come true in wireless triggering. Warranty and Repairs
