There’s a whole ADHD-themed mag waiting for you with a seemingly endless archive of content. Your Life Can Be Better by Douglas A Puryear, M.D.: If you want a big, compassionate hug along with your advice, try this book written by a psychiatrist who got diagnosed with ADHD at 64. With a lot of vulnerability, he shares all the ways we often don’t realize ADHD makes our life more difficult and how he’s personally dealt with them.

Wellness

Attention training exercises, or using mindfulness, can help us improve our ability to focus or hold our attention for longer periods of time, help us improve our listening skills, make less careless mistakes etc. The OT also designed a 10 minute exercise routine for Josh to do at the beginning of the school day in the learning support area. This included rolling on a yoga ball, press-ups against a wall, and falling on a giant bean bag. Exercise, diet, and sleep are indeed important factors to consider. Irrespective of what other steps you take, you’ll have a hard time controlling your ADHD if you don’t have these. At the bottom of the list there are spaces for your child to identify their extra and unique strengths. This might include excellent social skills or communication skills, empathy, sporting talent, or any area unrelated to their ADHD. ADHD Worksheet 2: Problems

Make a list of all the areas in your life that need changing, perhaps using broad headings e.g. home, work etc. Louisa began attending Tae Kwon Do twice a week.
